Drops get easier the further you go. Slimes drop the same items as most others, however their drop rate is much lower. So for the same items, stage 1 has a 0.01 drop rate compared to stage 4 with the same items having a 0.11 drop rate.

This way you could get lucky and be slightly overpowered early, or if you're unlucky you'll have a better chance to 'catch up' with items later on. - Hope that makes sense?

I'd love some feedback on my demo. This is a idle/fighter/looter game. The core battler is in with an endless 'arena' mode after the first area, however a lot more features are in development. The goal is to understand what you like/dislike about the current features/layout etc.

The buttons showing percentage to buying is something I'll consider for a QoL update in the future for sure! However there are labels in the game currently that show the modifiers and costs for upgrades, it may not be as obvious as I thought. If you hover your mouse over the name of the upgrade and leave it there for a moment, it will bring up a tool tip with the modifier and cost for the next upgrade!

This is true for almost all the text in the UI. I have added small descriptions to help the player.

As for not knowing how many of an upgrade you have. I don't believe I have a clear indicator of this in the game right now so that is something I can look into adding too!

The opening of the game flashing with the 'heartbeat' was my first attempt into some kind of animation in a game, I need more practice in that area for sure xD I'll look into it more in the future!

I'm glad you noticed the control bar stopping there when you enter dialogue (At least in the beginning where it matters). That was a common issue I even ran into myself when testing but having to step away for a moment. Due to already being in a dialogue and the next one triggering, it would ignore the new dialogue and not apply the new unlocks. The best solution was to pause the control timer which controls most of the game's timing and pacing!

Yep, that's fine for now. It's a system for the end game but I need to find the right balance for it. It's meant to be a really powerful enemy for you to defeat as the game progresses so for now, you can imagine he's so powerful that you're barely able to hurt them :)

Number formatting should be fixed now. You should theoretically be able to go infinitely. However I've not fully tested it.
The drawback is that in the new build progress had to be reset to allow the new systems to work correctly.

Once you unlock Heroes, that's as far as I have gotten in coding the game. So you're not missing out on any content.

I am releasing a new build soon that changes the layout and progression somewhat, however it will also end after unlocking the Heroes again. Once that update is here on Itch, I'll be focusing on new content from there.

This is actually a really great prototype! I get that you're just cycling through a bunch of different arrow types to see what they would look like (I'm guessing they're going to be upgrades).

Yes that is correct for now. Each creature speeds up the bar. Rebirth multiplier will increase the amount of Life Essence you receive.

There were two version changes yesterday due to bugfixes and updates. Is it possible that you refreshed during those changes? (Some changes require me to change the save version which forces a reset)

As for not being able to acquire life essence after rebirth, that is a bug that should have been fixed on the last update. You shouldn't run into that issue going forward.

If you continue to have these issues, or have any others, please don't hesitate to let me know. A lot of the bugs I find are from players who report them and it helps a ton to get them fixed quicker!

I'm rebuilding a lot of the functionality and a lot of the dialogue has already changed. There's not a ton of dialogue just yet and it can be modified as needed, nothing that I particularly need to stay the same, as long as it's interesting and can explain what is happening for the user.

If you have discord we can discuss it further, I have the dialogue in a spreadsheet so it can be easily examined.

I have been working on a project (Isekai Reboot here on Itch). The initial prototype is up but I have rebuilt the project as many features have been changed/updated.

That being said I could use some help.

Writer

There's a lot of dialogue in the game. The idea is to teach the player mechanics of the game within the story. It does however slow me down considerably having to write the dialogue and it could use a fair bit of work. - This will be ongoing as the mechanics/story are evolving with the game as it develops. - I need someone who can take game mechanics and explain them in a very simple way within story dialogue.

UI Designer

Preferably someone who can use Godot so that they can structure the scenes as needed to create and implement the design. Right now everything is simply sitting in containers with default panels. It would be great to give a bit of character to the game through design.

Other Roles

I'm always happy for further help on this. The game is very causal and is simply for me to make and finish a project. Without the help of others it will take more time but I'm willing to do it myself if necessary. That being said, there are other art elements that are in the game such as sprites and tilemaps. To that end if any artists are interested and want to revamp the free assets I'm using currently with custom ones, then I'd be very happy to accept your help.

I am also very new to programming and get stuck on problems for hours. The code is also not the best/most optimized. So if any seasoned Godot/GDScript programmers are interested. I'd be happy to work with you. It would be more of me doing the heavy lifting but you helping with fixing, optimizing and walking me through issues I'm stuck on. (After all, I'm trying to learn here. That's one of the main points of making this project).

Revenue

It's just a hobby game so that I can finish a project. If anyone joins and sticks it through till the end, then we will know we have good teamwork and dedication. Then we can potentially discuss working on another project together. Until then, this is just for fun, experience and learning.

Remember. I'm just here to have fun and develop the game in my free time at my own pace. We're not working on any deadlines, there's no solid game plan. Just making, learning, having fun and finishing something, something that probably won't be super amazing since no one is really working on game design xD

I actually took the step to rebuild the game from the ground up considering there was so much in the code that was hastily cobbled together. But it's given me a much needed chance to revisit how the mechanics work and make things so much cleaner/smoother. So there is an update coming, it's going to take a little while longer. That being said I'm hoping to get it out within the coming week! :) I'm certainly on track for it!

Once the new version is out however I'd certainly be open to fresh feedback comparing it to this current version.

Looks like you're posting about the same issue with a lot of other games. Have you tried a different browser? It seems the common issue is Firefox. You could check if any plugins you're using is causing issues too, such as an adblocker etc.

The best way to go about this in my opinion is to look at what you're currently developing and see what assets you need for it, then hire people to work on those specific assets.

Let's say you're starting a 2D game and need a tilemap for a cave. A main character that can just move for now, your first monster with movement (since we're not working on a combat system yet) and maybe a main music loop. Create a spreadsheet of the people you need and their price, for example:

Now you have your base game assets which you're going to need to build out the layout for, create the cave scene, set up the sprites and creature AI for etc.. All that is going to take you some time. During that time plan out your next system, maybe it's the combat system, list out what you need for assets and save up for the cost.

Keep in mind each person will charge differently based on what you need and the complexity of it and each person will take different amounts of time too. You might get your music track in a week, but the tilemap in 2 weeks. - At least you're paying for a final product and not hourly for an undetermined amount of time.

Life Essence is spent passively at the moment (Unlocks Perception, Focus Mind and Mind Capacity) Once you've unlocked all of those, that is currently the end of progression until the next big update. Once I release it there should be a lot more to do with Life Essence.
