Hey guys, my name is Ken. I am a professional artist working in the game industry, but I would like to work on a small to medium-size project on the side, and actually finish it! There are no strict deadlines, and you don't need to be an expert level coder, but some "completed" project experience would be nice, and above all, just be reliable and consistent with communication (no MIA for weeks please!). I handle all of my sprite work in GMS2, but am fine with whatever pre-existing engine you'd prefer to use :)
The game is called Bullets and Brains. It's a zombie game (another one :D). I was thinking the direction of the game could be something reminiscent of Resident Evil 4, just on a much smaller scale in terms of overall play time. A few map locations, some bosses, but lots and lots of zombiieeesszzz! I even have an idea for shade like monsters instead of zombies that we could consider to make the game feel a bit more unique? I'm open to discuss overall direction of the game though, just as long as it has that post apocalyptic survival feel to it!
Some features I anticipate will be in the game (previous experience with any of these would be greatly helpful!)
- Fully functional and non buggy top down player movement with layer/collision detection.
- Unique melee and ranged weapons the player can find and use.
- A basic weapon/item slot inventory into somewhat fixed positions on a player HUD, no advanced item manipulation required.
- Weapon/Item cycling through the basic inventory, something similar to Castle Crashers.
- Day/Night cycle.
- Room and overall map transitions for navigating from the map and in/out of houses.
- Item manager system for storing/managing distribution of items and weapons throughout the game (via drops, crates, etc)
- A persistent save system. If you die once, the game is over, but it would be nice to save your overall progress if possible.
- Vehicle physics (maybe). Driving vehicles would be fun, but I'm not sure if the smaller scale of the game would require it.
- Player HUD with health, hunger, and thirst bar, as well as weapon slots and a small map display for player location.
- Basic chat functions and character portraits with NPCs. Just to help tell the lore of the game throughout.
- 2 to 4 player Co-op (MAYBE): I think it would be great, just depends on the amount of work required.
Features that will NOT be in the game:
Procedural Generation: Waaay too much work for the scale of this game.
Online networking
Open world: Because of the size and low resolution, I will create all of the maps by hand.
In App Purchases: It's just going to be a one and done payment of a few dollars, like the good old days.
I look forward to meeting anyone interested! Thanks for your time :)

I have a good amount of assets made already to get us started, but here are a few screenshots to show off the overall look of the game:
