This is one of my favorite games of all time, and the most recent updates have only increased my adoration for it. However, I have 1 issue: the controls.

I've been playing this game since 0.0.3, so I've gotten used to picking up weapons by left-clicking. Now, however, I have to press "E" to do it. This probably won't be an issue for new players. But what MAY be an issue for new players is the fact that "E" is also how you interact with NPCs, portals, and fountains. It's likely that someone will find an ultra-powered Ordinary Pineapple sitting next to a Juice Portal, try grabbing it, and get teleported across the map instead.

And since "Tab" opens the inventory in some other games, I keep accidentally hitting it instead of the actual inventory key. But that's my own fault, so... yeah.

If it's possible, I'd like an option for players to bind keys themselves. If it isn't, then... well, I can probably get used to the controls.

P.S. I also think it'd be funny if you could shoot the Pizza with the Pineapple, resulting in it exploding violently and damaging everything within a certain radius. This is based on the real-life phenomenon of putting pineapple on pizza, which (as we all know) creates an abomination that's harmful to all life it touches.

(The pineapple thing's mostly just a joke suggestion, by the way.)

I've noticed that, too. It started in the 1.0 update (when the kinesis mechanic was added), and I assume it's because the Skelly's bones count as individual objects.

It's more pronounced when the bones are scattered; the farther away the bones are, the more damage they deal.

I don't think the ground has a bottom texture at the moment, so you can just clip through from the bottom.

He's the bat-thing that you encounter after landing in the Graveyard. You know, the guy who's like "OoH, tHaT's SoMe GoOd JuIcE yOu'Ve GoT tHeRe..."

From my testing, when struck with a weapon, Batty will recoil (meaning he is a physical entity), give a single orb of juice (though it currently does not make the player's Juice Meter go up), and his health bar will appear on the top of the screen. He's similar to the Koaladog: he takes up space, can be struck, and has an unchangeable health bar.

Batty's event is triggered when the player enters the Graveyard and increases their Juice Meter above 300.

When I tried following him, he ended up outpacing me and I lost sight of him.

I love playing this game (particularly this update), but I've run into an issue.

When I load a new game, I spawn in the Graveyard. It completely skips the tutorial/beginning.

Is this intentional, or just a bug? I haven't downloaded 0.0.8c yet (still 0.0.8a).

Yes.

Yes.

I'm 150% for this.

It's interesting, because he has a hitbox and can be knocked back with a swing from a mace. He even used to drop a juice blob, but it didn't give any points.

I've got a few suggestions that have been rattling around in my head for a bit.

  • A hammer/mallet. I'm thinking swinging it against the ground (when fully charged) knocks back enemies within a certain radius.
  • A nest for the Vampire Bat. A giant cave set inside a mountain, perhaps? Or maybe a tree? The Bat could ignore you until you attack it.
  • An enemy with a suicide attack.
  • An axe.
  • More ranged weapons, like a crossbow or javelin.

0.0.6 is a great update.

I won't spoil it for anybody who hasn't played it yet, but the new content is a welcome addition to an already awesome game!

Some of the gameplay is unrefined and janky, but for the most part this is a solid update. It still astonishes me that this game is only in alpha.

...we need more horror games like this.

I think the purple guy is called the "Vampire Bat".

But, yeah, the old man and the Fog Giants could use a name.

And so could that dog thing that shows up next to the graveyard. Seriously, what is that?

Not sure how many are "secrets", but they're not easy to find.

1. The Fog Giant South of the Graveyard has a currently unused NPC in its mouth. It will tell the player that nothing is there... yet... and that it's lonely.

2. A duplicate of the player, called "your future self", is in a corner of one of the Abandoned House's rooms. Drinking it gives lots of juice.

3. Destroying all the graves in the Graveyard puts a Skull on the player's head.

4. Signy appears 3 times: in the Graveyard, on the head of the Fog Giant next to the House, and in a hard-to-access portion of the Cave. All 3 give different dialogue, and the one in the cave has a Pineapple.

You can actually kill the "Juice Dog", as I call it, by maxing your stats out and whacking it with the Draginslayer a few times. However, it just vanishes in a puff of orange smoke, leaving no juice left behind. There's no benefit to killing it, since it only hurts you if you walk into it. A lesson in self-restraint, perhaps?

Also, there's a thing in the Abandoned House called "Your Future Self". It resembles the player almost exactly, albeit without any cosmetic items. You can drink it, but it takes a while. Is it just a morbid in-joke, or does it mean something, kinda like how Nightwatch (an obscure Marvel hero) obtained his abilities by coming into contact with his future self?

I downloaded this game 2 days ago, and I can't stop playing it.

The atmosphere is surreal, the physics are fun to mess with, the characters are well-designed... it's too fun for a game that's only in alpha.

Of course, being a game this new, there are some issues. Most of them are minor, but a few can interfere with the experience. They are...

  • There's no exit function. I love playing this game, but when I want to leave it, the process is complicated.
  • The camera is very wobbly. While this isn't an issue for most of the game, when it cuts to Ingot's face the camera is disorienting and makes preparing for his attack difficult.

Those are my only major issues with the game, though, and since it's so early in development these things are to be expected. I don't know if I've ever found a game that functions this well this early in development.

I also have 2 suggestions for future features. Since I'm not a game dev, I can't speak on how these can be implemented (or if they can at all), but they're only suggestions.

  • A hammer weapon. Maybe charge-hitting it against the ground can cause heavy knockback within a certain radius, like the Gravity Hammer from Halo.
  • The Creator might summon a new monster to attack. Polywogs are already everywhere, so maybe replace the Creator's ones with a floating enemy? I don't know.

But yeah. Overall, one of the most bizarrely entertaining games I've ever played.
