Maybe have a check when two hitboxes are being clicked, that measures which hitbox’s origin is closer to the cursor. For a 2D that shouldn’t be too difficult thankfully. I hate doing that in 3D.

But considering that’s the only complaint I have, I enjoyed it!

Thanks! I made the mistake of pushing the level making to the last couple of hours, so there wasn’t enough testing. Therefore, the levels tend to be too difficult for most.

This game was inspired by a mixture of The End is Nigh and Celeste, but I do agree it can be a bit too fast. I’m definitely gonna do a lot of tweaking after the jam is over. Thanks for trying it out!

No, I totally get it. Wasn’t a criticism of your design. The time constraints forces us to make compromises. Was just giving feedback. Trust me, most players can’t even finish my game because I designed the levels last couple of hours. I don’t think, at the skill level that I’m at, that I would have been able to make your game, yet. Lol

That’s completely fair! While I playing I was surprised by the amount of dialogue. So, I could definitely see it getting hard to keep it all 100% coherent when there’s so much and it’s so abstract. Whether or not you following the theme, you made an awesome game

I plan on working on the game a little after the jam, so I’ll probably implement a horizontal air speed variable and slow it down a little.

I did limit the gravity. It was even more ridiculous at one point. I’ll definitely see how it feels reducing the limit further.

I really appreciate the feedback! I’ve got plenty of things to tweak now with the movement, and I already planned to make easier levels. <3

I’ll admit I haven’t played any really, so this is probably my first, but I caught on eventually. Also, the girl in shower definitely took my friend that was watching me on Discord trying out gamejam games by surprise lol

I didn’t click Return and Report at the same time, just for clarification. I just clicked the Report button as the showerhead sequence finished (since I washed off all the suds with blood), and the green Return button pops up when you’re done washing off the bubbles. So maybe it was trying to report while in an incorrect state or maybe I was supposed to lose right there. I don’t know.

I also work with Godot, but I’m not sure exactly what could’ve caused it without staring at the code for far too long. I was planning on recording with OBS, and now I wish I did lol

I loooove this kind of game. It did get a little twisty with it’s dialogue. May have gone a little too far with the abstract wordings for my personal taste, but it was enough to leave a negative impression.

I don’t know if you know this older indie game, but this very much reminds me of like a more childhood version of the game Presentable Liberty. I absolutely adored this game back in the day, and this gives me a very similar eerie vibe that I love.

I gave this a near perfect score. I only took off stars for theme. I don’t know quite how this fits it besides fairly loosely.

Cool idea for a game! I feel like the picture on the paper might need to be more relevant to help hint toward the headline because it is quite difficult and the picture is more often than not just a exclamation mark lol

Really fun and creative, even though difficult!

Glad to see you unprivated this game because my goodness is it gorgeous artstylewise. I would love to see this fleshed out more. As of now it’s only a drop of its potential, but I could definitely play way more of this if it were to be expanded upon. I gave this 5 stars in graphics easily. Hope you continue to work on it in the future <3

Neat concept that I’ve personally only ever seen once before, and I can’t even remember where from specifically. Love the near monochromatic style. The platforms were definitely bullying me by not letting me jump off of them when they’re moving upward which screwed up a lot of my jumps. This was the only big frustration I had with this game, and considering it’s a gamejam, I’d say that’s definitely a win lol

Very cool concept! I really enjoyed this! Kinda reminds of Einstein logic puzzles (I think that’s what they’re called) where each person has a specific condition that you have to understand to get the correct answer. The hitboxes on the monsters could have been little more forgiving. I struggled to pick them up a few times, but I’ve never minded a challenge.

Very cool concept. I assume you had to write a shader for the circle of colour surrounding the objects and player. Very cool!

I could definitely see this idea having a lot of potential!

I completely agree about the difficulty. I was running out of time and had to design all the levels on the last day, so that’s entirely fair.

But can I ask what specifically felt off about the gameplay, or is it not something you can pinpoint?

I’m ashamed at how long it took for me to understand how this game worked. I saw all the anomalies, but I thought I was encountering a glitch with the Day counter switching between 1 and 2. I legitimately thought the report button was for actual bugs found in the game lol

Although I got to day seven, while showering with blood, I clicked the report button right at the moment that I finished the shower and the return button pops up, and it crashed my game. I may come back later to see what happens after Day 7.

Overall really cool game and idea, though!

Sorry if my game frustrated you lol. The balance between difficulty and fun is a hard one to get right, and it doesn’t help that I’ve been playing 2D platformers for decades at this point. Putting yourself in the shoes of a player in an earlier stage of skill is difficult, and I hope that I can tune that skill as a developer in the future.

Thank you for trying my game out, though! I truly appreciate it!

Thanks! This stuff is also new to me. This is the first game I’ve ever finished!

I commend you for working in 3D because I did a whole bunch of modeling practice for this gamejam since it was my first but chickened out the last second and went with 2D since it was 1 less dimension I’d have to worry about lol

I grew up playing ridiculously hard games on websites like Newgrounds, so I can appreciate something being difficult but but still being determined to beat it lol

Thanks for the compliments and sorry for the pain my game has caused you!

I did play “I wanna be the guy” when I was younger, and plenty of ridiculous platformers on Newgrounds and such growing up. So, I totally get it, but funnily enough, this wasn’t meant to be as hard as it is for everyone. I just have no frame of reference for beginners/intermediates because me and all my friends are so used to hard platformers. I definitely could have used playtesters that were newer to the genre lol

And thanks for playing!

This was one of my favourite games of this gamejam! The game has a lot of charm. It was meme-y but not like in-your-face meme-y which made it really pleasant.

The graphical design was really pleasant and the mechanic of fishing in any that’s blue is a cool concept.

Love the ending, too. Also, I tried to fish the sky because the sky was blue. I feel like you definitely made that a thing, I just couldn’t figure out how.

Love the concept! Also, nice to see another 2D Platformer in the running. Game wasn’t too hard for me, and I can see this being able to be expanded upon. And this is apparently also your first game just like me. Very impressive for your first.

I could see this developing into something really fun. Kept me playing until I ran out of inventory space.

Possible Fixes -If you hold an item near the end of the belt, it disappears and considers it dropped off the belt -There are times where the game doesn’t give you what you need, so you end up filling all the shelves of a certain type, and have to just lose the health until you get what you need. -The speed stat doesn’t seem to touch your speed while holding an item, unless it was just so small I didn’t notice it

I really enjoyed it though. Would definitely play it if an expanded version came out

Very nice! Smart getting around fully animating everything by making them bobble. Kind of reminds me of a YouTuber’s game Equilinox where he does the same thing for his animals. Fit the theme quite well. Great job!

I love this! This is really creative! Sometimes I struggled with matching the beat due to spacebars being a little bouncy, so it’s a little behind, but maybe that’s a skill issue. Overall, I loved it, and could see a more expanded version of this with maybe more mechanics.

Definitely a fun tech demo. I could see this game getting good if it had more intricate hazards and subobjectives. Weirdly enough, this kinda reminds me of the older game Paperboy, where you’re kinda trying to survive while avoiding things.

Thanks! Was supposed to have an intro sequence and an ending (and obviously a better difficulty progression), but I absolutely overestimated our time and skills lol

It’s only fair that since I struggle with your game, you should struggle with mine. Lol Nah, I spent an all-nighter Saturday night finishing things up. Mere hours before I submitted, there were a total of 0 levels. So, I’m just happy the game is playable, and possible.

This jam was a great learning experience! Looking forward to doing more of them

Thanks for playing! I’m no animator (and barely an artist), but move around some pixels enough and it works decently lol

I’ll make sure to let F3ar know you liked the music. He borrowed my macbook and midi keyboard and had to try using Logic Pro in like 2 days (he’s never used a DAW before). So I was pretty happy when he sent me the songs, and they were actually pretty good despite the conditions.

Thanks for the input! Yeah, this was my/our first ever game and game jam, so definitely didn’t know fully where to allocate my time. This definitely helped me adjust my strategy going forward.

The game is very difficult, so it’s not just you. Lol

Thank you for trying it out!

Yeah, unfortunately, we designed all of the levels the night before submitting. Thanks for the feedback!

We worked hard on the movement, so that’s nice to hear!

I’ll probably release a second version with a better difficulty curve after the jam is over just for fun

Holy hell, this is a really well made game and potentially so much fun! Everything is soooo well polished! It is a niche game idea, but that just means it’ll hit stronger for its audience.

I do agree with others that the game was a bit too hard, but wow was it still so much fun! I also made my game too hard for most people, unfortunately. I’m able to beat my game in minutes (so did my brother on his first playthrough), whereas everyone else struggles. I assume it was a similar experience for you.

I debated giving this game a perfect score due to the difficulty, and I went ahead and did it anyway since it’s so close to perfection for what it’s trying to accomplish.

I’ve never played it, but YouTube recommended it to me plenty.

Well, you definitely make a very polished game! You seem to make the smart decisions where it counts (i.e. Music, cohesive art style, expandable/extendable but easy to use mechanics).

This was my first gamejam, so I struggled with finding the balance of difficulty vs fun, but you nailed it!

I look forward to more of your projects!

I see. lol I went back and beat it now that you told me. I think I just figured the camera would center there if it was supposed to be like that.

One of the only games so far that I’ve actually finished!

(1 edit)

lol I get that. You had a lot of environment for a weeklong gamejam, so making sure everything works perfectly was probably an ontaking. I know that I had to make so many cuts from my little game, yours definitely swamps mine in real estate

I don’t blame you. It will be fun to watch my friends play it and struggle, though >:)

Thanks for playing!

I definitely agree. We planned to have 12 levels with a more steady increase, but the deadline was approaching, and a lot had to be cut. Thanks for playing!

Definitely ambitious going for a narrative experience in a gamejam. Definitely would benefit from z-ordering and such. I walked through a lot of house roofs, bookshelves, and the like. Also, the train didn’t line up with the entering hitbox, so it took me a second to get in.

I enjoyed playing!

My favourite part was the hallway next to the classroom where the hall loops. Although the reflection was just walking around outside of the mirror. Very confused when an inverse colour version of me walked up to me in the hallway lol

I like the concept. I was having a good bit of fun. The hit box for placing the bombs in the disposal unit is very hard to find, so I lost a few times simply from the bomb refusing to be thrown away lol. Luckily a very simple fix.

Other than that, very cool!

Hey, I wanted to try your game to rate it, but it’s apparently password protected. May wanna change that ASAP so people can try it out.

I love logic puzzles, but the guys that are stating that they’re not saying anything really make me confused with the logic of the puzzle.

Are they saying that they’re not saying anything? That’s automatically a lie, then, right? The answer disagrees.

Okay, then if it’s the game stating that he’s not saying anything, then he’s not lying or telling the truth and that makes me confused with anyone that is making a statement about him.

The concept is nice and the overall game looks and feel nice. Maybe I’m just wrong, though. Please correct me if I am.
