I played Sm4R on Ubuntu via wine without any issues during the beta phase.

The game ingeniously combines tons of RPG and hack'n'slash elements with a very dynamic world that feels more MMORPG-ish than actual MMORPGs. The humor is on point and the bots are hilarious. They won't hesitate to call you a noob and laugh directly in your face when you mess up.

You can gear your character in many different ways with the insanely rich selection of items and the shiny auras and mounts you get will make you feel epic... till you get one-hit by entering the wrong area.

Explore for riddles, battle bosses, survive in an arena - but don't be afraid to die, because you actually get a visit from the Grim Reaper which is my favorite visual effect in my game. Speaking of which, the art style is as unique as it can get and matches the grotesque setting perfectly. :)

Thanks, appreciate that a lot. :)

About to start working on big features with thorough devlogs that I am dreaded to do (mostly because of my awful Hungarian accent), but stepping out of my comfort zone should be good in the long run. :D

Hello there!

Just finished playing the game - I totally understand why it won 1st place. The reflection in the puddle (lake?) is a bloody brilliant touch. :) I think I have seen you post WIP footages about the game on Twitter - the death decay animation I believe?

Full RPG version +1 :)

Edit: paragraphs and spacing, ugh!

Welcome, fellow game devs!

Arena has been released back in February, but I have never made an official announcement about that on itch.io. I have been delivering weekly updates to the game ever since (28 at the time of writing), and as I have just re-released the demo and the trailer, I thought it's a good opportunity to finally post here. :)

A chaotic shooter with classic mutators

Arena is a deathmatch simulator with rocket jumps, slow motion, revolver whirlwinds and beautiful skillshots.

The core of the game is dead simple - the player faces bots in Free-For-All,  Last Man Standing or Team Deatchmatch game modes. What makes every match unique is an ever-growing selection of mutators and weapons. You may spew flame with a blowtorch - or just throw the whole canister for a nice explosion. Shoot fireworks, swing the legendary Moonsword or shadow-step with a Shuriken.

Mutators are small changes to the game rules - some are widely known such as the Big Head and Low Gravity mutators, and there are some exciting ones, such as Ricochet, turning bullets into chaotic bouncy projectiles, and Explosive which makes your shotgun cover the whole screen with explosions.

There are 12 mutators, 12 weapons, and 17 achievements to acquire. Achievement are all unique - some require finding secrets and easter eggs, creating disastrous game settings, and winning games with very specific conditions.

Arena is going to continue receiving updates on every Tuesday that are always free for everyone who have bought the game at any point. For further info and content, please see the store page.
