When an Event occurs, maybe that event should not occur again for a bit (if that is possible). It is a bit annoying to get the hair color event three times in a row, or crossing the river event four times in one day. 
Also, (and I could be wrong) after playing this more times than I would like to admit, the cannon event on day two seems to trigger over and over until it hits. One time this missed many times. This is just random bad luck, but if it has to hit maybe force a hit the first time.
