By the way, the game has now been updated with a lot of new content if you want to check it out ^_^

I'm glad you liked the prototype! The game has been updated with a lot of new content if you want to check it out ^_^

it's a web game, just hit "run game" and you can play directly in your browser!

thanks for playing!! the black screen is a known issue related to something I added very last minute :( you can avoid it by not clicking the button to view a slot when that slot should be "empty". Since you start the game with 1 ability and 2 slots, clicking the arrow right at the start causes this...

sorry about that :(

the game saves your progress automatically so if you start again you can go directly back to the champion.

I've noticed that this bug seems to happen more for people rapidly pressing z/x during the final march's dialog, so avoiding that can help as well.

Hope this helps! glad you enjoyed the game :)

YO THIS IS SO GOOD!! I can't believe I never realized that losing to Kip is just way faster :0

Gamemaker Studio 2!

You're absolutely free to try and recreate this game in scratch as an exercise! If you publish your game, please make sure that:

  • It is very clear that your game is not original, and that all concepts/art is from mine
  • Your game links back to mine (either the page or the newgrounds page)
  • You do not make any profit from your game

As for the sprites, here's are the texture pages for the game! everything here is all jumbled, sorry, but this is the easiest way to export it all at once. Getting all the individual sprites would be... really difficult,
page 1page 2page 3page 4page 5page 6page 7

Hopefully this can be of some use to you!

I have some exciting games coming, most of which I'm not quite ready to share anything about quite yet. Please follow me on itch and/or newgrounds, as well as twitter to get any updates! I also have a newletter with much less frequent updates, you can find that on my site:

Thanks for the suggestion! Unfortunately. I'm not working on the game any more at this time, but if I ever do a quality-of-life update, I might add this.

All of the source files for web games are actually available to you if you dig deep enough in the developer tools. Very similar to how downloaded games work, except that the downloaded information doesn't persist (besides cookies/localstorage). Hope this helps, glad to hear you're interested ^_^

all the friends are kinda assholes tho

I haven't actually dipped into VR at all (I get motion sick pretty easily) but that's awesome!! small world indeed :)

these are GREAT, loved watching your playthrough!

nice! if you have a video I'd love to watch!!

no, sorry 😔. The collision code in this game is a little glitchy at time so it seems that on rare occasions people can clip into parts of the walls.

It's on SoundCloud here:

Glad you appreciate it!
I'm currently not sure what the future of this game is (may or may not add more / make a sequel in the future...), but I am definitely going to keep working on new games like it!! If you want to see my new stuff as it comes out you can follow me here, or on twitter, or on newgrounds, or subscribe to my newsletter

Nope :)

Woops, somehow added a space to the end of the link and broke it. Fixed, thank you!!

here ya go my dude:

Will post to soundcloud and link here when I've done so! Going to prioritize fixing some bugs first though 😅

Glad you liked it!

i did:

Ah so sorry about this! Working on a fix for this cutscene, but in the meantime the game saves so if you reload you should be able to go back and get past him!

The left path is definitely the trickiest! Here's a full walkthrough:

  • Starting at the looming gate, go right, then down. Then go left until you can't anymore. Then go down until you can't anymore. You should be in a room with a purple background and see Diggur.
  • Diggur is looking for the purple key, which you can see. If you walk to the right and come back around, the key will be gone. Diggur will have left a note saying that he's gone to dig past the door. If you visit him, you can see he's partway through digging the next room.
  • Go back all the way to the right, and drop down the pit at the bottom of the screen. This will loop you back to the room you're currently in. To get past this, you'll need to hold left while falling to land on the ledge and go into a secret passage.
  • Keep moving through to the left, collecting the purple key on the way, and eventually getting to the other side of the purple door.
  • At this point, Diggur has finished digging his tunnel, and you can follow him to the other side and talk with him again.
  • If you continue past Diggur, you'll see a ledge that's too tall for you to jump up. To get to the top of this ledge, you'll need to return to the room Diggur is in, jump up the platforms to the room above, jump to the top-left platform, and jump off of it while holding left. This should give you enough height to make it to the top of the ledge.
  • Continue left and you'll find your way blocked by an invisible block. You can jump onto it, and subsequently the block above it. Then, jump into the room above. This room is a zig-zag pattern of invisible blocks. Once you make it to the top-right, you can jump up to the next room, which contains the Orb of Caverns.

Make sure you have all of the following to sell him:

  • Indigo Key (left of the Looming Gate)
  • Yellow Key (on the way to the Hardware Store)
  • Red Key, Green Key, and Valiant Sword, which you have to have to get to the hardware store in the first place.

Hope this helps, I'm glad you liked the other parts!

Oh, good catch- I made this with an old version of Gamemaker that only supports Xbox controllers.

Thanks for posting the fix! I added the note about being able to map it via Steam in the download/install instructions.

I hope you are your friends enjoy the game! :)

haha unfortunately my code for this game is very old and very bad. I actually had online partially implemented during development, but realized that to do it right I'd basically have to rewrite the game from the ground up.
Maybe if I ever make a sequel!

this is really fun :0

Good luck getting to 50 games- You are awesome for making small, unique games :)
