Thanks for playing! Here are the Garage Band files for the sound & music in case you'd like to take a look at how they were made—the creature moving sound is "step-and-eat":

Thanks so much for all of the kind words & feedback!

I was worried that the movement might feel unfair and generally it's hard to balance jam games, but I'm so glad it turned out about right!

Thanks!

Thanks for playing! I just wish the graphics matched the vibe haha

Thanks so much for playing! Yeah I definitely whiffed on the horror aspect... 'twas meant to be a flip where the Pac dudes chase the ghost. Unfortunately it got lost in the top-down camera view! It was at an angle earlier but the controls felt off.. in any case, I'll probably revisit this concept at some point, so thanks for the feedback!

Very interesting premise and atmosphere! I'm not sure I've ever seen a game quite like it. It's neat!

Thanks for playing! Glad to hear you enjoyed it. Based on the feedback, I'll definitely have to make a full version after the jam with more levels & stuff!

Very cool! It makes a lot of sense & is easy to pick up, while at the same time providing a neat challenge. And the art is amazing!!

Thanks for playing! My hope was to have different user-selected difficulties based on whether people want to just finish the levels, or get a bunch of points, and it seems to have worked out!

Thank you!! I feel like there is so much potential in the spatial reasoning direction—tetris like stuff etc. Originally I wanted to make it a 3D grid but fortunately I ran out of time so people don't have to deal with that XD

Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed it!

It's a neat idea! I especially like the emergent complexity from being able to move forward to turn around, and the limited number of moves in one loop. It has a lot of potential for some cool puzzles with just the mechanics already available!

Thanks for playing! Yay for unique puzzle games!

Woah, an action-puzzle game! This combines a bunch of interesting ideas in a neat way.

Thank you! It was a fun theme.

Thanks for playing!

Very cool concept! It steps up the difficulty nicely and each puzzle feels doable, but requires some thinking. Great work!

Thanks for playing! I think the highest possible score is 206, but TBH I'm not really sure and maybe it's higher! (it's just the highest score I've been able to get). There are definitely some levels that could have had more interesting challenges, but so it goes...

I was definitely inspired by the GMTK "super mario's invisible difficulty settings" video to try to make varied levels of challenge that players can select for themselves:

Thanks for playing!! So glad you enjoyed it and it's good to hear the difficulty level turned out appropriate :-)

Thanks for playing, and for the kind words! Good idea—I'm thinking for the future to maybe make it 1 star = any solution, 2 stars = decent area-enclosing solution, and 3 stars = optimal solution. With some larger & better designed levels.

Thanks for playing! Yay loop drawing games!

I definitely should have spent more time on puzzle design... my hope was that there would be some more straightforward solutions with 2-wide rectangles, but then a deeper challenge to find the optimal placement for maximizing area-enclosing loops for score.

Maybe I'll revisit it to improve the scoring!

Thanks for playing! Glad it's fun!

I sometimes turn down a street and wonder "who's that crazy driver swerving all over the place?" it's me! Fun game.

Thanks for playing! Glad the concept worked out in practice!

Thanks for playing! Glad it seems to have been balanced OK!

This style is completely cool. Wow!

Thanks for playing!!

I love the game concept! It's well-executed and quite different from the other games I've seen for this jam. Great interpretation of the theme!

Thanks for playing! That is very kind of you!!

Glad to hear it! Thanks for playing! Yeah I think there's no way to get points on those levels... :-( will need to make a v2 with properly good levels haha

Thanks for playing!

Thanks for playing!

Yeah, some of the level designs could have been a bit better... I put them together at the last minute and wish I spent just a bit more time on them. Actually I forgot how to solve a few and in the interest of making the game possible I quickly changed their designs, but in the process forgot to check that it was possible to score points!

In any case, I think the max possible score is 206 pts but maybe it's more then that. I know for two levels it isn't possible to get points but for the others it is.

Very solid game with good execution! Each level felt different and well-designed. Nice work!

Woah, Zachtronics-like is high praise!! Thank you! And glad it was intuitive, I flew way too close to the sun with the deadline & testing... I think the highest possible is 206 but tbh I'm not really sure!

(1 edit)

This was such a fun game!! I laughed out loud multiple times because the combination of sound, fun, and absurdity made for such a hilarious experience. Love it!! I managed to get 30 horses in a stack but I know more can be done....

Thanks for playing! Enjoyed the style of your game too!

Very impressive, great work! It felt very complete and I enjoyed the overall game loop. However, I wish you could always look in any direction (even if it meant pausing a repair, limiting cannon direction, etc.) since at times it was hard to maintain spatial awareness. Often when my ship broke, it was because I didn't see the obstacle or enemy ship until it was too late to take full countermeasures. In any case, awesome game!

Thank you very much! Glad to hear it is understandable!

thanks!

Thanks for playing! I enjoyed your game too.
