also i've tried clicking the file and dragging it into the game but it doesn't work. idk if it will help any but I use a Lenovo chromebook and i'm on the chrome browser

I'd recommend saving your progress as a file on your device, and then you can open the file in the game and keep your progress. Just make sure to keep saving periodically just to be safe
