Let me preface by saying that for a first game, you didn’t a phenomenal job coming from someone who has never made a game.

Now coming from a gamer, I’ll be honest when I say it was a walking sim with a few point and click parts and did leave things underwhelming. Now don’t take that as a negative because overall, it works. I guess I did go in expecting something with the killer in the neighborhood but instead they were just kind of, there. Then we did our thing and went home.

The two little jumps were implemented fine though and they had a bigger impact since they were a “less is more” kind of approach unlike some games.

Keep it up though! I’d like to see what else you might have in store for us!

I took justice into my own hands | The Butcher

Is there a reason subway trains seems to be an allegory for …. Nevermind, I don’t want to spoil it, so come back after you’ve played it fellow gamers and you’ll understand.

Overall though I enjoyed this game and the story that matched. The only thing that tripped me up was the Medicine puzzle in the middle had me thinking I needed to make several rather than just one mix.

Would recommend.

This subway has no stops

This to me is being the bartending fly on the wall of the moving train, spooky edition. Just in this demo I felt pretty pulled in and very intrigued to know more. Instant wishlist on steam, and that’s not me blowing steam up your engine.

Would recommend.

Was it an accident? Or was it murder?! | Cold Rails demo

I still want to know what the lore is to this elevator, but I’d imagine that’s kind of the whole point. Simple little game with an atmosphere to boot. I still want to know where the water comes from though.

I pressed the red button | Red Finger

I really, really enjoyed this little game, and that’s not just me blowing paint up your a**. The simple concept of an I Spy book mixed with a creepy girl monster trying to get you, with quite an appealing art style that I honestly adore.

10/10 would let monster girl get me cause the art is “chefs kiss”

I Spy, but with consequences | Sportdiexicartaphobia

This game has potential. Its atmosphere is top notch and definitely had me thinking something might be around any corner. The investigation mechanics are neat being based around some form of spiritual mystic powers, akin to some kind of sonar/batman style xray. I know, that doesn’t make sense until you go see it.

Curious to see where this game goes with its release.

They don’t call me fire fingers for nothin’ | Black Omens House of Crimson Silk demo

This game, in my mind, is a metaphor for addiction and how no matter how much you feed it, you’ll never be satisfied and crave more until it eventually takes everything from you, or literally kills you.

In reality it’s probably just a creepy game about feeding a blob to a hole.

10/10 would recommend.

I was told not to feed it… I didn’t listen | Don’t Feed It

Albeit short and not entirely jammed pack with specific gameplay, this short story had a clear and concise story to follow with characters that for the most part, you care about. Biggest gripe was the “skill check” style ending, though I think that mechanic was most likely just user error.

Would recommend.

Never eat anything that comes from space | Fear the Flesh

At first I wasn’t sure what exactly I was supposed to do, and then I died. Then I realized I needed to speak to everyone and not just judge them on their physical appearance. Clearly this is a game about not judging a book by its cover but rather the content of its words.

Or probably not. Had fun though. Would recommend.

They're not shopping for snacks... they want me! | Human Shaped

I enjoyed my playthrough of the game, but once getting to the end I unfortunately felt like all of my effort was for nothing. I quick played again and went straight to the ending. I’m not saying this is bad because on my first play I didn’t know and thankfully I felt I went the correct route to stop everywhere, but if I hadn’t I might have missed a few places completely leaving them pointless.

Game overall was still good and I did enjoy it and would recommend.

I enjoyed the story of this. Similar to real events but not a 1:1 for posterity is always good. It was definitely more of a story with a few game elements, but this was for a jam so that’s easily excusable. Only gripe is the opening title goes on for a while, unless that had to do with one of the Jams requirements?

Would recommend.

Hunt or be hunted | Zodiac

The pendulum swings back and forth inside the mind of the father. Being someone who was raised somewhat religious but doesn’t follow it, this demo gives quite the encapsulation of one’s faith being questioned on whether they are doing the right thing or not. As a father, you want to do what’s best for your family, but sometimes it isn’t always right, and we follow the struggle of the father in figuring it out. Then we get to the end of the demo, which now has me wanting the full game because WOAH.

Only gripe is sometimes things move a bit slow, and kind of bogs down the pacing, but it could simply be a demo thing.

Would recommend.

I found myself more invested than I originally expected myself to be in the story. Matching the names to the plates and noticing when a certain someone arrives that apparently shouldn’t be able to created a tension I didn’t expect. The slow burn of the story increased as it went on and honestly left me panicked by the end trying to figure out what I, the lowly little security guard needed to do before it was too late!

Great little game. Would recommend.

So I managed to soft lock myself because I spent money before I knew I was going to need to buy more paper and envelopes. Maybe other buying options should be disabled in the demo?

Besides that I enjoyed the game a lot. A store sim style with a horror twist. Hopefully there will be more variation in the photo taking/editing side in the full game as I felt the stores purpose was a bit lacking in its actual usage. Photo development was good though!

I didn’t think taking photos would be spooky | Photomaly demo

Simple, direct, and to the point. Other than the checklist being linear, and I swear if anyone actually puts their books on a bookshelf in that manner, clearly they’re the evil one.

Managed to get two of the three endings, with the good one simply being a joke on my end made me so proud.

Why did I answer the door | Night Knocks

(1 edit)

This game was definitely a ride for sure. I wasn’t sure what I was exactly getting myself into when I launched it, but boy oh boy did I find out soon enough. I get that it was supposed to be creepy and unsettling, but I couldn’t help but feel endeared to the game and story. I dunno, maybe because I’m a dad already and sometimes I want to lock my kids in the basement too, who knows.

The only negative I have is not entirely having any idea what I’m supposed to be doing at points which left me wandering until something happened. Maybe that’s the point or I’m just a moron, that’s to be determined (depending who you ask).

Either way, had a good time. Would recommend.

The atmosphere at the start of the demo was solid and set the tone properly, but by the mid to late section of the demo it lost that dread that had its hold on me. My guess, and this can be confirmed or not, was to show the varying play styles for the release of the game, which may have left me confused in the demo and how I felt about the more drastic tonal shift. Overall though, can't wait for the full game to see if that "dread" gets a grip on me all over again.

Someone broke in | Dread Neighbor demo

I like the premise, I like the voice acting. I like the theming and styling of the game. I want to like it more than I do.  Granted this is simply a demo, so it truly is just a showcase of what's to fully come, I couldn't help but feel overloaded with jump scares and scenes that took control of my camera and left things feeling confused as if I'm not sure what it was trying to show me. The fish eye lens is also a lot, and when turned down in settings it made it feel a bit better.

Overall, not bad, could use more atmospheric tension outside of scripted scenes, as I state in my video, "I know I'm usually fine until the camera takes control so just keep holding W until the next scare."

House prepping… more like haunt prepping | Staged Open House demo

I really enjoyed this demo and the way it took me along it's little journey of a story, back and forth across my isolated cabin. It built the dread, the tension, and the worry all outside of my field of view, which in my opinion makes for some real quality spooks. Albeit short, the "VHS" film series style of finding videos taken by people and watching them as they unfold is a solid premise, and hopefully will be tied up in a beautiful blood red bow in the fully released product.

Keep it up!

I shouldn't have played this... | Don’t Play This demo

I really enjoyed the unique idea this game is bringing. Using facial features of others as a pseudo body-horror style mechanic in the vein of a Mr. Potato-Head, with an added story of needing to because you're also a hitman trying to trick someone into believing your someone else makes this a nice little package.

I would love to see this fleshed out more with what you need to take from others. The police feel fairly okay, and other more specific threats could be interesting.

From one Adam to another, keep it up!

I need to put their face… onto my face | Skin Face demo

Short, sweet, and to the point. How a proper slasher story should be. Keep it up, because with this being your first game, I think you knocked it out of the park first swing.

And that's not me blowing smoke, I was indeed impressed overall. The jump scares were minimal which made the ones you have more affective (sans the weird zombie janitor one that feels out of place), the setting and the premise are good. The boxes in the basement, though probably meant to cause claustrophobic feelings, honestly stood out overall as weird choice.

Keep it up, Rippers Lair!

I went in expecting a cringefest of memes and other things, but honestly the name is quite deceiving. With the small nod of "6 7" in name and one reference in game, it's an otherwise solid little horror story. It had great dialogue with choices, interesting characters, and a simple enough premise that we all know of, but with an unfortunate twist.

I will say too, while editing my video I noticed a few things that I didn't catch while playing, so definitely keep an eye out. Plus some solid tunes in there too.

Keep it up!

This is a different spin (in a chair) on the anomaly format and honestly I'm here for it. It takes what we all know and enjoy about anomaly-based games and puts a twist on it. My video is only the demo but I will be live streaming the full game as I found intrigue in the story and want to see where it goes, and how difficult it can ramp up to!

Would love to see a VR port.

Would recommend.
