Yeah it’s like a couple hundred objects with circle colliders that are made to follow one another with line renderers for the visuals. When we detect a collision between the boat and the rope we create a polygon collider for 1 frame and set its vertices to the positions of every segment of rope until we reach the boat. Then a mesh renderer is created with the texture of the net and the shape of the collider is plugged in as its mesh. Finally all fish in collision with the polygon collider are caught and added to the inventory. Thanks for your interest and the kind words!

Hey Guys, we just wanted to thank you all for voting and for getting our game so high! We are extremely thankful to everyone who played, and we're planning on making it into a full title in the future, seeing all the positive reception to our little game!
For now we're working on a free update that adds a few new fish and upgrades, a new Lighthouse npc and fixes  a few issues that people pointed out, as well as rebalances a few things!
If you'd be interested in playing the full release when it comes out, we'll soon be publishing a steam page for wishlists and possibly a Kickstarter of sorts to allow us to work fulltime on the game and to put more content in. Stay tuned!

In the meantime - Barry x Benson

Thanks for letting us know! We were wondering where we'd place if the overall category was still being used. 14 is honestly way higher than we could've imagined. Again thanks for letting us know!

Holy essay! Seriously tho, thank you much for the kind words and suggestions!

Seeing a game with a similar concept to ours has certainly been fun. You've made a lot of different decisions compared to us and that in itself made the game just a bit more fun for me. Overall it was quite a satisfying, yet challenging experience.

Some of the design choices you've made are genuinely brilliant, and I wish we had though of them too, like a combo for catching many fish at once or a fish that intentionally messes with your net. That's not too say this is the only positive thing, far from it - the 3d work is quite impressive for such a short jam, the fish catching feels very rewarding thanks to the crispy visuals and sound, granting immediate gratification, and the sound design felt very on point and again, led to more satisfaction from the game.

However if you guys would allow me, I would also like to provide a bit of constructive feedback. This isn't to say the game isn't good (far from it), but these few points would elevate the experience to the next level. I would have really appreciated a fuel gauge to know when the day ended and I wish the hitboxes of the fish were communicated a bit clearer. I often found myself in situations thinking I'd make an easy catch, only to see the line break in a spot I didn't expect. Also I know you probably ran out of time, but some kind of a reward or an ending for killing the kraken would be nice.

All in all this was a nice satisfying game, with great visuals and fitting sound design, that I'd gladly play for longer if it was possible. Thank you for finding us and showing us your game, to see a different idea for the concept and I hope you don't mind me nit-picking a few minor downsides in hopes your next games are even better. I'd also appreciate if you could tell me who your lead designer was, so I can follow them and check your game out next year 😉.

Man, with the reception we’ve gotten so far it’d be remiss of us not to do it. We’re a bit crunched on time currently, so it might take some time, so we genuinely hope the game gets out there a bit more, dare I even say mark’s top 20?

I see, I could've made the wording on the upgrade a bit clearer. The fish food and bait passively increase the chance that a fish you catch is an L or XL, which are simply worth more money. Thank you so much for your comment tho, and I can't wait to see how your game is different from ours when I get the time to play it.

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the ending, considering I only implemented it at like 3 am on saturday. Also I'll pass on the nice word about gooberfish to our art team - it was their idea.

Shh, don’t tell anyone, but when we made it a kilometer it lagged the game a bit too much so we had to shorten it a bit, but the description stayed.  Hope it doesn’t takeaway from the magic of the game in your eyes.

Dam. Haha, thanks for the nice words man, glad you enjoyed our little game.

Thanks for the feedback, man! If we were to redo the game what would you recommend we focus on? And what would you have us leave behind?

Thank you for playing, man. We really appreciate the nice words!

Did you try getting the radar upgrade? It’s rather cheap and it allows you to see your position on the map in real time to avoid moments like this.

Good shit, man. I got my poop to, like, 15 meters, yo.

umamusume if it was good

Short and sweet little experience. A pretty standard clicker game with a rather unorthodox (but still very cool!) approach to the theme. Congrats on submitting.

Such a silly cute little game. I have probably liked this way more that I should but the main guy is just sooooooo cute and that energy radiates out of this game. Really good job!

LOOK AT ALL THOSE CHICKENS! Anyway pretty difficult game to get a hang of, but otherwise no complaints!

I love this silly rat. Fun and simple game.

Really enjoyable game. It looks polished and is fun to play. It's a shame there's only two levels. I could see myself buying this game on steam if it had more content.

Honestly after a few levels I just entered a flow state and beat the whole game. Really simple but very fun.

Really fun idea and a very silly main character. I loved playing as the little guy. The difficulty was also pretty nicely tuned.

Man, I love the graphics. It's fun to just mindlessly drive in the globe. The fixed camera while kinda difficult to manage at times added to the retro feel. Solid submission.

Quite a simple idea, but it is very well executed. The game feels very polished, but I do wish the timer was a bit more forgiving.

Loved the graphics and the concept (I feel it would have also been a great submission for "out of control" from a few years back". The platforming was rather enjoyable, but I wish there was a bit less backtracking in the later levels. Great submission overall!

Insane performance. Amazing artwork, addicting gameplay loop, fitting audio design and on top of all that a beautiful beginning cutscene. And the gnomes, the freaking gnomes. man. I loved every second of playing this game and I think it's a crime that this only has 2 ratings so far. Also the dance party ending went crazy.

Not a very complicated concept, but very enjoyable concept nonetheless. Great sound and upgrade design design. Kind of reminds me of my 1st entry to the jam 2 years ago.

I also think playing this may have negatively impacted my cognitive function (a compliment)

Okay, let me start off by saying the story would have probably made a better impact on me if I wasn't so goated at gambling (By the end of loop 7 I had like 1400 points and seen all goobers). This might be a wrong takeaway, but the gambling was extremely enjoyable and I also really enjoyed the meme culture in the art and the sound design. Great Job!

Great effort. The concept is cool, but I wished it leaned more into puzzling with the looped sprites rather than precision platforming (cause I suck at it 😅). I also think a lot could be gained here by implementing some simple coyote time mechanic. The little guy is really cute tho.

I like the concept, but I think the game loop itself could use some balancing. I found that just looping on the lowest level and buying upgrades at the smith, without taking any risks kind of trivialized the game. Nevertheless, the artwork is super well done and the sound crispy and well fitting. Great effort

This game is genuinely SO. MUCH. FUN. Our programming team loved playing it together and we just couldnt stop laughing. Quite a simple premise, but it's executed so well. And the comedy, don't get me started on the comedy. Genuinely loved it so much. Amazing work.

Let me start off by saying that I think the game is EXTREMELY creative. I absolutely love the concept and it's quite enjoyable as well. I do wish the launching was a bit more intuitive or offered more control.

The art is charming and the gameplay easy to understand. I managed to beat it on the first try and I'd say the challenge was really well designed. I bet a lot of work went into finetuning all the different values.

Very polished puzzler with amazing gamefeel and great visuals; I loved how big and heavy the big robot felt. Pretty cleverly designed puzzles that filled me with satisfaction after completing them.
The only criticism I have is that it wasn't always clear when a resizer would make me smaller or larger.

Loved the story and the atmosphere! basically was kept slightly uneasy for the whole game and I loved that. Just wish there were a few more puzzles cause the game feels quite short as is

I can't believe someone attempted a 3d game at a game jam and actually pulled it off. I love the character design as well, very cute and fun game.
