Haha thanks for the feedback :)

I am working on a better water effect for the post-jam version!

Thanks for the feedback, and the technical tip!

I was planning to explore the threads option, but ran out of time. The audio is better on the desktop versions for sure.

Really fun, quite polished, visually consistent, all in all a great jam entry, congrats!

Nice concept and execution, the little houses and mushroom people are cool and funny :)

As others have said, the progression is too slow to get players easily invested in the game (especially in the context of a game jam where you have a limited time to allow to each game you try)
And it was very frustrating to buy a building that you cannot use, having to pay basically double to even have one single guy with that new ability...

Other than that, I liked it a lot! With those two things fixed I could have spent a lot of time playing, trying to please the Mushroom Lord ;)

Good job!

Very relaxing and chill, felt good to see tiles transforming and critters appear.
Nice job!

Really solid entry!
Quite polished, game feel is really nice, audio/music on point, and a lot of levels to explore (special thanks for including the "warp to level" feature)
Amazing job!

Pretty cool entry!
Nice work on the 3D animations and level design. Also good job implementing the size changes, the block pushing and the blowing fans :) I can imagine many more levels with just these basic mechanics.
There was no music after the intro, then again after a couple levels, then no more (might be a bug, might be my slow internet...)
When it was there it was really catchy and fitting with the game!
Some sound effects would be nice, and a more fluid movement as well, but all in all, great job!

(1 edit)

Controls:

  • Move : WASD/ZQSD or Arrow keys (Keyboard), Joystick or D-pad (Xbox controller)
  • Action : E or Space (Keyboard),  A or X (Xbox controller)
  • Open Book : Tab (Keyboard), Menu/Select (Xbox controller)

Very cute and fun game! Loving the art style and general look of the game.
The high-pitched WOOF gave me a good chuckle :D
Technical question: did you use navigation meshes for the player?

Thank you. Yes I was planning on removing the 16x for release but decided to keep it.
The end of the astronaut's lifespan was supposed to be the end of the game, with a list of your achievements and the civilizations you managed to create from all the species. Not enough time for that sadly, nor for audio.

Very cool submission!
The art, animations, lights and sfx really make it a whole, polished game.
You can sometimes get stuck with a low-jumping character but waiting a few seconds for a different one is completely fine.
Congrats!

Haha thanks! The biologist doing their stuff in the background is one of my favourite thing as well ;)

Thank your for your feedback! Yes the linearity and lack of end-game is due to the time constraint we had, we were planning to spawn the species next to the base and have them move out, with a different UI to see how they were doing as a civilization later on.

The game might not be finished but that's still a lot of things you got done in a short time: the movement and combat mechanics, the locked door system, the inventory, the traps, turrets, enemies...

And the result is still pretty fun!

I love the idea of having combat AND dice-building (especially "free" dice-building where you can swap faces as much as - and whenever - you want).

Good job!

Impressive work! Lots of nice animations, cool moves, plenty of metal references... I really like the concept and the execution is pretty slick for a jam game!
It was exciting to see our character transform at the end of each stage.
Game was not too long nor too short, a bit too easy I'd say but it's perfect for a jam where you're testing a lot of games.

I couldn't play fullscreen because hitting Esc to see the move list was also exiting fullscreen, but that's a very minor inconvenience.

Impressive amount of work on your part! It's always a challenge to implement several different gameplays into a single game jam entry, so good job for managing that!
The end fight was the least interesting of the three in my opinion, but the inventory cleaning gameplay and of course the rythm game were really cool.

The flute keys displays being at different heights made it difficult for me to concentrate on the actual horizontal line that is used to time the key presses, but that is just a small issue that might not even be one for most people ;)

Good job!

Very cute art, a chill and peaceful game, not very challenging but a good time for sure!
A great foundation on which to add a few tweaks and features if you feel like it ;)

Really fun gameplay, I love dice and dice building mechanics!
Feels like you put lots of thought into every aspect of the game, and the result is great!
I really like the increasing chance of failure for dice upgrades, great application of the risk vs reward concept.
This might be your first game jam but I hope it's not the last one ;)

Thank you for your comment! I also watched the replay of your stream testing our game (I used to watched your HC episodes looong ago, feels good to hear your voice again!)
I didn't get enough time to implement the last part of the game but you were indeed supposed to see the species go out into the world and develop their civilizations, then trade resources with them for upgrades of your buildings, and get achievements depending on how well they were doing :)
Thanks again for playing and reviewing the game!

Thank you!

Thank you for your comment!
We did not find enough time to implement the "going wrong" side of things, but there is a subtle hint when you build the Bio Lab using a mysterious resource that happens to be your own health... We wanted to have the biologist's death as a motivation to create as many species as you could before the end. But we could not implement the game over conditions in time.

Always very cool and exciting to read your dev logs, thanks for sharing!
Good luck with the maintenance, maybe share a paragraph or two later about what it's like to maintain your previous games, I know it's not always fun...

Very very cute and fun! Great job, congrats to the 4 of you ;)
