I just spent the morning generating images for the Lake Trio

Yeah makes sense, I would be surprised if anyone claimed any of the trio to be their favourite legend. I think the primary aspects to at least make sure are a part of the designs is the forehead gem, the double tails and the gimmick with the eyes (Uxie/yellow one = eyes closed, Mesprit/pink one = eyes somewhat open, Azelf/blue one = eyes full open). When it comes to the headshapes I think you can skimp out somewhat on Uxie and Azelf. Mespirt is the one with the most distinct shape so you wanna try to get that one more accurate.
Edit: Ok Mesprits eyes aren't partially closed they are just designed differently but if it does help make them look better could probably try that
