What does it mean when the "in review" status of Payout turns gray?

Hello,

the "in review" status of the payout I initiated 21 days ago changed from blue to gray about 13 days ago, and I'm not sure what this means. I emailed support about this 12 days ago but haven't received any response. Now, the payout has remained in this state, and the review time has exceeded my expectations. So today, I emailed support again to inquire, but still haven't received a response.

I hope someone can explain what's going on with the gray label and what should I do. Thank you.

Ticket: 208073
Payout: 136525

You’re going to have to wait until we complete a review of the account and payments. Telling people to post here is not necessary.

I’m going to close this thread as it has gone off topic. The forum here is for asking and answering questions from the community, not making appeals to the team.

Thanks

16 days now. Still no response I'm feeling worse

Admin

It typically means that the payout is manually placed in hold by our team.

It looks like our staff has reached out to you about reports of malware/malcious DRM embedded into content you distribute and they are likely performing additional review of your account.

Thank you for your reply.

1. The reporter has never purchased this game.

2. The reporter has never provided any evidence.

Please don't  easily believe such baseless reports. They can ruin years of effort for creators.

I submitted sufficient evidence 17 days ago to prove that my product is harmless. It has self-protection mechanisms similar to regular competition games, which prevent it from running alongside cheating and decompilation tools.

Additionally, I have clearly stated this information in the download instructions provided at the time of product release.

When player runs a program containing sensitive strings("Cheat Engine" or somewhat), the game will automatically shut down itself. it's only a self-close.

All reports stem from one pirate user' hatred towards DRM who was kicked from my discord community. Please do not ignore the praise from tens of thousands of legitimate players due to malicious slander from one pirate without evidence

Delaying payment in this manner will harm your reputation. Please provide me with at least a deadline. I believe my products and accounts are simple and there is not a huge amount of information to review.

I am a trusted high-quality creator on many platforms for years.

Please trust me.

My game will be available on Steam soon.

I'm glad to release the final version on itch at the same time.

We need to trust each other.

Hi Leafo, I have been playing elzee's game from long time and I never had any issues or malicious behavior and I fully trust this game and it's creator.
Thanks.

Hello leafo,

I was one of the supporter from Ci-en, I been following and support this creator for about a year, watching him grow step by step.

I played his game quite lots of time and didn't encounter to any malware or some kind of virus stuff and I do trust him won't do anything weird to his supporter or the people who trust him.

I understand that your team might need to be cautions and time to deal all other abnormal report, but holding a payout which is for the creator for too long might delay their arrears or even damage their life.

So, I kindly request that the admin expedite the review process or at least give a deadline. I would like to see how his final creation will be and don't really want to see a good creator was fallen like the others.

Hi,

As the others before me mentioned, I haven't come across any sort malicious software in the game either, and things like this can really hurt a creator.

It'd be great if the creator could at least get a deadline of when the review would be done as this is really detrimental to them.

Hope this gets fixed soon.

Hello.

Long time supporter, I have not had any AV warnings, and the DRM has not impeded my ability to play the game.  Denuvo does more harm than the DRM this game has personally.  As it does zero harm to my personal computer.

I have been a paid supporter of TUNNEL ESCAPE several times.
I have not purchased on itch.io but have purchased on Patreon and Ci-en.

I heard that TUNNEL ESCAPE is facing difficulties with itch.io.
I believe that the staff at itch.io is obligated to reply to Mr. Elzee in good faith and promptly.

I am sure that it is inevitable that itch.io staff has accepted the malicious report.
However, if left unchecked, itch.io could become a platform that allows people to attack creators.

Elzee provided an honest and prompt explanation to itch.io staff.
The staff of itch.io should also respond to ElZee honestly and promptly.

I hope Elzee and TUNNEL ESCAPE are treated fairly.

Hi,

I'm some who has bought this creator's game on Itch.

I'm no expert, but in my experience so far, I haven't had any negative or malicious effects on my PC because of their game.

I hope this helps. I would hate to see their progress halted because of this.

Hi, moderator. Can you help me inquire about the review progress? I still haven't received any response from the support team.

It's been 20 days. My game should be very easy to review, so if you have any questions, please let me know.

This payout has been reviewed for 24 days.

No response from support.

I feel like I've been robbed.

When player runs a program containing sensitive strings("Cheat Engine" or somewhat), the game will automatically shut down itself. it's only a self-close.

The game may occasionally ask you to enter a 3-digit verification code.
When the game asks for a verification code, please come to this page to download the latest verification code.
Please be careful, as entering the wrong code will cause the game to exit.
Please keep your internet connection stable. The game will only use the network to transmit the verification code and won't transfer any other data.

That sounds like your game has a lot of things in it, that would trigger antivirus.

I am curious what type of drm and anti-tampering mechanisms your game will be allowed to have on Steam.

Personally, I would not trust any self made drm of any indie developer and a requirement to be online to play a single player offline game, and to tolerate anti-cheating software for an offline singleplayer game ... it does not sound inviting.

Oh sure, you can argue about competitor games, but actually, your competitor games do not really have those things. It is an exception. I have seen many indie game descriptions, and the number of games that have some kind of drm, let alone anti-cheat is very near at zero. I have seen sometimes things with codes or online stuff, but I think anti-tampering is a first.

You can of course protect your game any way you like, but the non legitimate users will just download a cracked version of your game, that has those things removed. We do not need to hate or love drm, but pragmatically, it has little use. And there is the risk of hurting legitimate users. Like when they can not play your offline single player game, when their internet is down.

But you do you. And I am really curious what Steam will allow your game to have.

It's a very basic DRM. I think someone who really wants to crack it can do so, but for a small indie game in development, a true hacker might not bother. It would be somewhat troublesome and a waste of time. Achieving this level of protection is sufficient.

The game's code is obfuscated and then further protected by a shell. This shell prevents the game from starting if a debugger is running (Cheat Engine comes with a debugger).

The game does not require users to stay online. It only needs to connect to the server once when entering the captcha. If the captcha is entered correctly, the player can receive very valuable in-game items as a reward . (you can think of it as an NPC giving the player a puzzle every day, and if the player gets it right, they receive a shiny unique gift).
