Upload Issues Today

Hey folks, we started to have upload issues to itch through butler today. Troubleshooting seems to show no connectivity problems on the box,  last nights build ran great, and I upgraded Butler to the most recent version just to eliminate that. We get to about 4% and then the upload grinds to a halt.

Anyone else having issues today? (Sep 4th, 2019)

Thanks!

Yea, just looks to be going very slowly. Output from -v :

[cu-0] ✓ Commit succeeded (1 blocks stored @ 2.58 MiB/s)
▐█░░░░░             ▌   4.26%  - network idle, 1.32 GiB left

and then it sits.

I haven't seen any other reports. Do you mind trying to upload a file through the web interface to see if you have any issues? They both go directly to Google Cloud Storage.

Thanks Leafo,

A direct upload of the zip via web worked fine and it was quite snappy. I didn't target it to our windows-alpha channel so it was just a straight upload, not replacing the build.

( is this the right place for me to post about this sort of thing? )

Thanks for the info. It's okay  to post here.

I don't recommend using the web upload as a solution, since you can't upload a file from the web into an existing channel created by butler. This means auto-update would not work, and patches would not be generated. I just wanted you to use it as a network test.

I just did a quick upload test through butler with a ~300 MB build and I didn't experience any timing out/slowdowns like you described. My guess is that Google Cloud could be having some kind of service degradation, possibly regional? If possible, you could try an upload over another network connection.

OK, I will trouble shoot a little more directly from my Jenkins box and see how the nightly build goes tonight ( last nights was perfect ). Thanks for the help Leafo!

It seems to have gotten back to normal as of last night, thanks for looking into it for me!
