I mean, considering that a main plotline exists, anything outside of it is always optional to begin with. By that I mean experiencing every single route is a personal choice. Nsfw scenes are also optional. Its purposefully made. Do you fr think that making only few (Nauxus and Thane in this example up until now) characters romancable as an option to be a chore? If it wasnt forced into a main storyline and the option exists outside of it, just like with every nsfw scene, why not add it? It could also be made in a way that combat doesnt impact the relationship. A chore also already exists, to either unlock nsfw scene with Naux or Axel if starting a new run.

I honestly wish he makes romance possible, even if I know he might not.

those are motivated by making 4 (with the added variable of nauxus being dateable in neutral or not based on your choices) different routes with crucial story differences that justify some of them being into you or not, playing all of them takes a bit but offers a lot more story and background (plus you can skip seen dialogue to speed up), and they are part of the "reward" that incentivizes playing each one. Even if we take bottoming and topping enemies as its own thing, can you imagine if we had different dialogues and scenes for every npc we commit romantically to? that's doable in more traditional VNs and dating sims where a route is solely based on that, this game is a middle ground where that has to have less focus (and, c'mon, how many play every single route in those? you tend to pick your fav in bigger games, how many would legit commit to, say, Selye?). Anyway, deeper romance will eventually come for more npcs, i just think Caro will make it so you don't have to lock yourself to someone unless it's for plot-related choices

The Effort to flash out 4 Diffrent Route's Romances  is quite insane with limited gain.  I assume Its already difficult and stressing enough to keep up with the plot and art. Writing Romance or the infamous Love-Triangle on top of that is... a hugh timesink.

The middle option would be to let Eyvind pick 1-2 Characters as Squadmates simliar to Mass Effect or Dragon Age Origin in later Parts of the Game. That allows to write Campfire and Romance/Aventure Scene. But even that compromise is already a momumental task. Not only would Caro have to write 3-4 diffrent sets of scene for the Rest of the Entire Novel, depending on loveinterest, but he also need small changes to Eyvind:

Commiting/choosing a certain Side changes Eyvind; removes or enforces his "blankslate MC status" -> meaning the Eyvind who helped Axel got slightly diffrent motivation and priority as the Eyvind who choose to add Nauxus most of the time. THe Eyvind who makes peace is more likly to be more thoughtful and  compasionate. This makes Writing for Eyvind way more complicated, cause the dialog and action by Eyvind  must be somewhat logical and consistent with any kind of Eyvind you choose to play.

Therefore I prefer the writers to advance the Plot and Eyvind Story at their pace and leave the non-essential Romance Stuff and romantic SideQuest for a) bonus content or b) when the writer experience a mental blockade (temporary loss of motivation, writing/creative problems, RL-Stuff).

Honestly agree

You just say every single word that i was thought this whole time, just, Amazing!!!!

(And yea Nauxus was the main reason who i started playing this because of the Lustful Desire crossover, and was worth it)
