Don't worry, I'm super happy that you were able to post your monthly dungeon in time! Yees but i'm so sloow! Wow you did? Congrats for translating everything, thank you so much for your nice comment and happy that you enjoyed the experience🤗

Mmm... That seems a bit suspect to me🤔

Oh I will, you can count on me😈Haha!

I actually never made pancakes myself, I really should try one day because every time I had the opportunity to ate some it was soo good! Lol, would love to see that, it is a fun idea🍗

I really enjoyed playing it, your thought about the future were fun and sweet so I'm happy you corrected me! I hope you will win the jam in 1756 years!

Yeah, congratulation for that🥳 Do you already have an idea on what you will work on next?

Well, I don't know... but I also like them when they're not in my plate, they're cute🐔🍽

(+1)

Me too! Yeah, but you make good games, so I'm sure it'll be worth the wait. 😎 Plus the more games you make, the faster you'll get at making them! And you're welcome! 🤗

No no no... totally legit. 😉

😱 Noooooooooo! I retract that comment!

Do it! They're yummy which makes them worth the effort, if ya ask me (but I may be biased...). Have you ever made crêpes before? Those are also yummy (and French of course). Yes yes, I will make that game soon I think! It must be shared with the world!

Thank ya thank ya! Yeah, me too. If I can live that long, maybe I'll win by default. 😄

I'm thinking of working on the v0.2 update for TSFoFH since I wanna have it ready for March 2. I also need to make a game for a jam this month, so I'll be working on that as well. Then if I have any time left, I'll get started on that chicken game.

Agreed! Chickens are super cute. My neighbour used to have some, and I'd see them occasionally when visiting.

Am I allowed to get a hint at what the game you're working on is about?

(+1)

Ooh stop it😊 Hope you're right about that!

To know if you were legit or not, I bought it... BUT only to find clues if you really work with the dev, of course!🧐

I definitely will, I found a recipe and will try really soon🥞! Of course I love crêpes too, made some not so long ago actually, for a French tradition called la Chandeleur were... we eat crêpes! Do you have something similar in Canada with pancakes? Or is it all year around for you?😁

Nice, can't wait to play the next update to see how the game will develop, and what jam are you participating in out of curiosity? Lol awesome, I wonder what crazy things you're going to add in this game, since the original idea is already pretty funny!

Yeah they are🐔. Oh nice, that's sweet!

Of course! It's a first person "point&click" style game made in RPGinB with monochrome graphics and (I hope) a creepy and claustrophobic atmosphere.

(+1)

It's true, though! 😇 It doesn't really matter how long it takes, as long as the end result is what you wanted.

That makes sense, yes. The clues may be hidden well though, so it's best to play the game thoroughly! You may even need to buy a second copy just to be sure! 😆

Nice, lemme know how it goes! Ooh, I like the sound of that tradition! Clearly I need to visit France on February 2! For me it's an anytime anywhere kinda thing. I'd eat pancakes every day if I could (ok maybe not THAT often)!

I hope it turns out okay, even though I'm simplifying it a lot from the original concept. 😏 It's the Defenseless and Afraid jam, so I gotta make a spooky kind of game! You'll have to see for yourself when the time comes... It will be very silly, that's for sure. 😊

Ah, so we both have a spooky game in the works! Are you making it for a jam too, or just on your own time?

(+1)

Yeah, you're absolutely right, thank you for these wise words!!

Mmm... smart idea, I'll buy 10 more copies and will begin my investigation immediately🧐

I will, promise! The crêpes will welcome you with open arms but be careful that the pancakes don't get jealous! Well "a pancake a day keeps the doctor away", that's what they say... right?😁 Speaking of traditions, do you have a favorite one? Always interesting to see the cultural differences or similarities between two coutries, if that doesn't bother you of course!

Oh, a horror themed jam, cool! Spooky games are awesome so I'll keep an eye on it to play your submission and the one from the others participants! A silly and spooky game? Sound really interesting, I'm look forward to see the result! You can count one me to sheer you up🥳

Yes, our minds are connected😱 No, not for a jam, just wanted to try to expand a bit on a very little thing I wrote a while back! But I will try to participate in more jam in the future! Since you've participated in a wide variety of game jams, I'm curious how you choose which jam to join. Do you choose randomly or do you choose depending on the themes/limitations ? Or both maybe😀

(+1)

You're welcome. 😁

That should be sufficient, yes. 😄 I have no doubt that you'll get to the bottom of this mystery now!

Very true, I'll have to break the news to the pancakes gently. Oh yeah, that's definitely how that saying goes! 💯 Or at least that's what I say. 😎 Hmm... Well I was always a fan of Christmas when I was younger. Halloween was a close second, though! Et toi? What's your favourite tradition?

Yeah! I meant my chicken game would be silly, but honestly the idea I have for the spooky game is also gonna be silly... I get sad when I try to make something actually scary, both because I can't really make a scary game, and I don't enjoy making serious games in general. 🤷‍♂️ And thank you for that. 😊

Yeah, just don't read my thoughts, cuz that's dangerous! 😨 Awesome! I look forward to it! 🙌 No rush! There's always a large selection of jams going on, so you can afford to take your time. Usually I choose jams based on themes/limitations, but if a jam link shows up in one of the Discord servers I'm in, I almost always join those without a second thought.

I'm considering the idea of hosting my own jam in the future, but I donno... I might be a little too lazy for that. 😏

I've got a question for ya! Do you have any goals as a game dev, or are you just enjoying the process of making games for now?

My investigation is starting well, I have completed the first level! (I wanted to play a bit before going to bed, litterally couldn't stop until I finally beat this level, super addictive little game!)

Don't worry they will understand, I'm sure of it🥞 I would also say Christmas for my favourite tradition, still a bit magical in my eyes! I agree Halloween's also pretty cool but sadly it dies a little bit each passing year in France, or at least where I live. So my second would be... I think I'm going to go with la Chandeleur actually because I like crêpes and baking in general👨‍🍳

Oh, again I misunderstood things, sorry, but in the end I was half wrong I guess😁Yeah creating a scary game is actually pretty hard so I can totaly understand that, I'm always amazed by developers who manage to create oppressing/scary atmospheres and I think that why I love these kind of games so much, just taking in the ambiance! Hope mine will be at least a bit spooky in the end😱 You are really good at what you do and I have still a lot of your games to play, the ones that catches my eye at the moment are Hoss The Unsatisfied Skeleton 3D and Avoiding The Buttrooms (what a name, i'm hyped!)!

Can't say I wont🤪 Yes true, I took a sneak peak at the game jams on Itch.io and there are definitely loads of them! I see, thanks for sharing!

Hey, nice idea and if you ever decide to make one I'll do my best to join!

Mmh, no I don't have a long term goal, just a hobby and a way to express myself. But now that I'm on Itch.io I hope to upload more games in the future and to share them with the world rather than to keep them for myself. So... I guess that's my goal actually😉 What about yours?

(+1)

Well done! You're off to good start already! I know, it's fun right? And it's waaaay better than a real slot machine!

I love the decorations people put up for Christmas. It makes everything look so happy and cosy. 🎄 That's too bad! I used to love dressing up and getting candy on Halloween, so it's unfortunate that there's an increasing lack of interest in it. Good choice! I enjoy baked stuff too. Do you have anything you like to make in particular besides crêpes?

No need to apologise, silly! Oh yes, when horror games are done well, they're some of the most immersive experiences ever! I hope so too, but either way I wanna play it when it comes out! Thank you, and I'm very appreciative of your interest in my games! Hoss is currently unfinished, and Buttrooms is a complete experience (and it's name says pretty much all you need to know 😏).

I guess it's okay, as long as you keep my secrets to yourself! 😅 You're welcome, and I'm glad you asked!

Thanks! I'll let ya know if I start a jam then!

Nothing wrong with that! That's pretty much the same thing I'm doing too. The only real "goal" for me is to make more complex games and improve on what I'm doing right now. At some point I kinda wanna release something on Steam as well, but that'll be down the road a bit.

So I know you've used RPG Maker, Bitsy, and RPG in a Box... Have you tried any other engines at all? How many versions of RPG Maker have you used before?

Yeah it's really fun! Such a simple concept and it's so well done! Never actually played one but I trust you on that😁

Yeah I agree, the Christmas season is super cozy! Yes same, I have some good memories of Halloween too, and yeah it's sad but I'm sure some people will continue to keep it alive. Mmmh, I really like baking cakes from brownies to quatre-quarts and custard tart or just simple yogurt cake, nothing too complicated. The smell of of a cake baking in the oven is delicious in itself🤤 Pancakes and brioche bread are on my to-do list! What about you? What kind of thing you like to bake (except pancakes!)?

Hehe! Yes I can't agree more with you! Thanks to you too for your interest, it motivates me💪Even tho it is just a demo I like the premise that it's based on one of your HeroQuest Campaign and the top-down view intrigued me greatly... but I think I will try the buttrooms first😁

Nice and thanks, I'll be ready😎

Cool! That's actually a nice "end goal" to publish something on Steam, this can also allow you to reach a wider audience!

In the RPG Maker series, I used 2003, XP, VX(very little), VXAce, MV and MZ. For other engines I used Smile Game Builder, BAKIN and Twine. I also used a lot of Frictionnal Games HPL Engine to mod Amnesia games. I think that's pretty much it.

For you, I know you used a least RPG Maker MV or/and MZ and VXAce, we also talked about 2003 so I guess this one too! Definitely SGB, RPGinB and Twine but don't know about any other🤔

(+1)

I've never played a real slot machine either, but my assumption is that LBAL is more fun (plus I can't lose any real money by playing it).

Ooooh all those treats sound so tasty right now. 😋 Yes, I love the smell of cake in the oven too. Brioche is another good choice. I'd love to make french toast again, actually! It's been a while since the last time I made that.

For sure, it's awesome to have someone to share motivation with like this! 😊 Thanks! Hoss will be completed eventually, cuz I still like the idea too. Watch yourself in there! The Buttrooms are a dangerous place you know... 🍑

Exactly! Now it's just a matter of making a game that I wanna put on Steam in the first place... Gonna keep practicing for now though.

Oh wow! You've also explored many different engines! And you even modded Amnesia too? 😲 What kind of mods did you make? That's correct, I've used all the RPG Makers on PC from 2000 to MZ (I may have tried RM95 once, but didn't make anything with it), BAKIN, Clickteam Fusion, Game Guru, Easy FPS Editor, Unity, Pixel Game Maker MV, Visual Novel Maker, Tyranobuilder, SRPG Studio, GB Studio, as well as the ones you mentioned already. I think that's all of them... Many of these engines I've only briefly explored, but I'd like to make at least one project with as many of them as I can.
