The game was fun! The mechanic of loosing body parts was creative and matches perfectly with the jam's theme. My favorite curse was the one of loosing your eye, I think it made the game more dynamic and fast. Visuals are great, I'm not sure if you created all the models, but if that's the case, you did an incredible job for only 10 days, water looks beautiful and characters are memorable. My only  compliant in that is the use of spikes, as sometimes I wasn't able to identify the dangerous ones and the grass. Good job!

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! We did indeed create all the 3d assets by ourselves and payed attention that they all work modular with consistent pivots for easy grid placing in unity. Good point with the thorns/grass difference! It's noted for future development :)

A nice self-sacrifice game๐ŸŒŸ!

GAMEPLAY
The concept of sacrificing something for bonus points is both intriguing and effective. It adds a strategic layer to the gameplay, encouraging players to make meaningful choices at the altar. The control scheme, though initially a bit challenging, becomes better with time. The exploration aspect and the opportunity to test various weapons add to the game's appeal. However, it's unclear for me if there was a definitive end goal, because I did not make it that far..

ART STYLE / VISUALS
Graphically, the game impresses with some cool 3D models and engaging effects. The world is enjoyable to explore. The visual representation of the sacrifices at the altar is creatively executed, adding a unique visual element to the game.

AUDIO / SOUND DESIGN
The background music is well-chosen, enhancing the game's ambiance. The sound effects for the weapons further enrich the audio experience, contributing to the overall immersive quality of the game.

INNOVATION
The use of visual indicators in the game(play) for the sacrifices is an innovative touch.

THEME
The theme is well-incorporated, with choices and sacrifices directly affecting gameplay.

Overall, this game is a solid entry for the game jam, offering a strong foundation for future updates and development. Keep up this great work ! ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽฎ๐Ÿ‘

Thank you for your review, Gamejam was really fun, we hope to participate again sometime! Currently the goal is to clear the level as fast as possible but honestly this was rather a solution because we ran out of time :D

I love sacrifices when it comes to games ( especially if that sacrifice can help you in the long run ). I also love the artstyle of this game. Gameplay wise, I didn't know what to do at first so I have to use some time to experiment some things. Nice game!

Developer

Thanks for your feedback! You're right, the goal itself and some explanations would be super important. Info pinned to our roadmap :D

I really like the mechanics of having to give a part of your body.

Developer

Thank you! We felt kind of inspired by the other potential theme "self-destruction" :D

Real Tunic vibes. I didn't understand the altar at the start so I just ignored it and the railgun was fun to use, although aiming was a little weird. Found myself wanting to try again which is pretty good for me so nicely done :)

Glad you liked it! At the altar you can sacrifice a part of your body in exchange for a powerup but you then have to live with the consequences. We really should have explained that a bit more :D
