Ah nuts. Someone else has that issue you but I haven't been able to replicate it yet. I'll let you know when I get it sorted! Can I ask what platform are you playing on? And whether you played from the start or the "part 2 only" version?

I'm playing the windows-version. The Error occurs both in the part 2 only version as well as the full version. I've also tried to delya the learning sequece but get the same result. Something is a bit off with the entire room you learn ash-walk in btw. For instance when you first arrive in the room to help the possessed shadowfell you can talk to Al'nar but the clickbox seem to be in the wrong place and Tani has to walk away a bit to start the conversation. The left light brazier also have some kind of error. If you light it and then after its been lit you try to use the amulet on it, the hourglas shows up and then disappearas but no comment is made. Sometimes items in the room also get comments where the item-name seem to have code attached to them.

ok thanks. I'll play around more and see if I can figure out what's going on.

I haven't been able to get it to happen for me, even with a safe file from the other person that hit this bug. Driving me crazy ;)
I've fixed some other stuff you mention though, and have a *possible* fix, for the ash-walk bug. but its just a guess really.

Also, if its helpful, Here's a save file just after learning ash-walk  (just copy it over the existing one in the game folder)

Thanks again for your help!

Thanks for the save! Unfortunately it seems a new error occurs when I'm by the lava and start to Ash-walk. This time the game did not freeze with the hourglass instead i'm stuck on the spot, when using the dagger on the weed nothing happens, and when I try to walk left or right i get nowhere except tani switch position 1 pixel to the left or right.

I made a save from when I'm stuck in ash-walk in case that could help.

Did you get the updated version too? Does seem more likely I fixed it from the description on you moving only 1 pixel... ( I was changing the walk speed when you Ash walk and removed that in case it was causing the problem)

Ah! There's a version 1.2 out now. Tested it and it worked great! Tested both Ash-walk situations just to be sure, no errors this time. And the comment about the left braizer now shows when trying to draw breath from it. Excellent work! And what an exciting ending! Now I'm all hyped about what will be in part 4 <3

PS: Love your choice of the EGA SCIV style. Saw the discussion about EGA vs VGA earlier, and wanted to tell you tha I'm also a fan of that sciv-period from Sierra - many of the titels that came out during that period just had a ton of charm - Hero's Quest, Conquest of Camelot, Colonel's Bequest to name a few (as much as I like AGD Interactives VGA conversions, the Sciv EGA version of King's Quest will always be my aboslute favourite version). There are very few projects these day that would try to tacle the sciv engine or recreate the special pixel style of that EGA era (Betrayed Alliance was one very impressive project that sadly was discontinued, and then there's Cascadia Quest which look very promising if it will be released), so when I first saw your project I knew I immediately had to play it :)

Yaaay, I had no idea if that would work but glad it did. So possibly tied to frame rate and that's why it only happened to some folks.

And yeah love the style too, same feelings you have. Betrayed alliance is still in the works afaik. There's also Fortune and Glory from deivore and of course Crimson Diamond to look out for!

I'm very tempted to try out parser stuff too, but there's only so many hours in the day ;)

wow! and a demo of Book 2 is coming out in February, that's really great! I'm happy to read he is also considering to brush up book 1. Book 1 was great, charming and had an great concept for the world and intrigue, but the map felt very cramped and some puzzle lacked narrative to guide the player.

Never heard of  Fortune and Glory or Crimson Diamond. Will be sure to check them out :)

Parsers are my favourite, but I can only imagined how much effort must be put into it to make it work effectively. I can see the need for a very advanced respones mechanism and coding as well if you allow the player to use commands such as ask about and tell about.

Found Crimson Diamond on Steam, looks amazing!
But I had no luck finding any game called Fortune and Glory. I did however found two games by Deivore that was named Perlious night and Perlious Wilde.
