Nice mix of story and shoot-em-ups,  the theme worked well in having both the different characters  leave and the arcade getting more difficult. Stage 3 really got to me though because I couldn't tell I was being shot at at first. Interesting little game with good story-telling and music!

Developer

Thank you! Yeah definitely we have to change the bullets sprite or make them animated

Developer

Thanks! We're glad you enjoyed! And yeah ngl I did too cause i didn't realize we had added enemy shooting when i was testing lool XD

Developer

The vibe was cool, but level 4 kicked my buns

Developer(+1)

Oh thanks, I had some trouble with level 4 too lol -^-

We are actually planning on working some things after jam, like adding new games, showing more the story and etc, if you're interested ^^

Developer

Developer

Honestly, I have no clue what the story is about. Clearly, I am dumb.

Now, excluding my lacking sapien in homosapien, the game was good. It had a story to tell, and it told it directly.

Each character was interesting and, although it was a bit tedious to interact with them all, the number of characters always decreased so it is all good. However, the random bits of dialog sprinkled everywhere really helped the game greatly. Dialog when you die, dialog when the game starts, etc. Little details like that really can make the game more dynamic, and I appreciate it.

I don’t really have many suggestions. I will say that, in the first room, at the top-middle, behind the tree, you can walk out of bounds. It was so easy, I first thought that was a hidden ending.

Also, You should probably make the bullets a bit more visible. Either bigger, have more usage of black and white together in design, or make them animated. Having some visual indication which enemy is which would also be good.

Developer(+1)

We actually let the story kinda open to make people really question lol. Thank you very much for the suggestions and compliments ^^

If you're interested we will do a more detailed version after the ending of the jam to explain a little bit more the story, I'll rate your game too! ^^

Developer(+2)

i agree with the bullets. I actually didnt even realize for a minute or two during level three that they were shooting hahah. We'll probably change that. I'm hoping to be able to add a few more mechs to make it more intresting too in a future update :D

Thanks for playing!

Sounds interesting.

Thank you so much for your review! Bullets will be fixed for sure 🤣

Very cool story! Does it deal with addiction to something? Because I felt that the arcade games were something you end up losing yourself and people around you. Well done.

Developer(+3)

We left it pretty up to the player to interpret the story how they see fit! We thought leaving it so open to let everyone share how they viewed it would be very neat, so that could certainly be a possibility :D
Thanks for playing!

Very clever idea, thanks to you. Oh btw I would like to know what you think of our game 😊

Submitted(+2)

your game is good, i enjoy playing it, i think it more good if you add other arcade game not only space shooter and connected lives in arcade game to how many character still present

Developer

Thanks for playing, I'm glad you enjoyed it! We actually had the idea to have a bunch of different mini games! We ended up going with 1 mini game and taking away from it to fit the theme, but we want to add an arcade mode and will likely have some more variety :D

Really touching story, another game that would really benefit from a "writing" rating.

Loved how the power of our ship was connected to the number of character still present, dialogues were efficient at conveying personnality without being obnoxiously long. Really nice balancing act. It almost felt like a shorter Bokurano.

The game itself was pretty simplistic but that's to be expected with such an emphasis on the dialogues parts. Solide entry

Developer

Thank you! We were really trying to get all the characters personalities through while not making it a slog to read everything so I'm glad we succeeded! :D

A few things we didn't get in was we wanted to have an Arcade option after you clear it, if you just wanted to play the mini game, as well as some audio, like footsteps and all the level background ambiences. As well as a little credits cutscene at the end. But we are planning on updating it with all that once voting ends!

Also thinking about making it into a full (Though still short) game! With a lot more mechs for the mini game to make it more interesting, some interactables around the world for extra lore, and new areas and cutscenes to explore!
