Ah, I see. If I were you I'd go with what you think is more important to the MC's state of mind.
Ex: If he felt guilty if the students were harmed or the farm/kids being in danger and he could go into a deep depression of losing them.
It's more a question of "put all the town content in before moving to a different map or not" sort of thing. My brain's all full of combat system stuff right now, so I'll give it some real thought next week ;P
