You're right that it only kind've loosely fits the theme. I'm gonna try balance things out a little more and see if I can change and or add anything to make it adhere a little more. There isn't meant to be a way to fail in this game - it's all about trying to get the highest score you can in the allotted time (though the balance needs a lot of work as you've noticed).
