If you have implemented the modifier, how have you done so?
Added as many of them as I could.

Man at first glance this really seems less like a "so bad its good" game and more like a just "good" game.

As it went on though I did see some more obviously SBIG stuff pop in, like the spoon boss, which I honestly thought was kinda annoying to fight since you can only fire forwards, and the Votebot boss which I thought was kinda funny!

The controls I think were definitely janky, and while not horrible in some sections its definitely more noticeable when a bunch of projectiles and enemies are onscreen. That may have been intentional or just ran out of time to balance but it was noticeable.

The art and sound though were stellar, similar to your entry last year I think they're mostly too good for SBIG. There were some exceptions like the spoon or the balls of steel, which were definitely more in the vein of SBIG. But for the most part they were surprisingly polished.

While I noticed a few nods to modifiers I didn't notice a large number. That may have been because I only just made it past the second boss, but since there's no checkpoint system I didn't have the time to replay the whole game.

Overall though I enjoyed what I did play.

Good work!

Wow! I was really impressed by this! I love the shooting mechanics, and the way in which the modifier suggestions are played in is actually really good! The music is exhilarating, and the gameplay just feels really smooth. Almost to the point where I don't know whether this game is bad enough!

I think there were some minor gripes: I think the spoon especially was a horrible boss, and getting hit by the spin attack could kill you in one. For games with perma-death, it's worth making the game mind-numbingly easy for jam builds, as everyone has to get their grips around the game and may want to see everything the game has to offer without putting a whole lotta time in.

With that said, I did persevere and put the time in and I liked what I saw! The  minigames were really well put together and I liked the differences between levels and bosses. I did get one minigame/level twice in a row which wasn't great but besides that the (I assume random) placement of levels worked well!

I  got up to the (presumably final) boss but couldn't make it past there since I'm not invincible 😅 overall this was a lovely entry! Well done!

This was an interesting entry, and if the spoon hadn’t showed up, I would have wondered if it was even submitted to the right jam. There was definitely quite a bit of jank in this game, but I’m not sure how much of that jank really added to the SBIG charm.

My biggest gripe with the game is probably that it feels a little slow. Played up until the beginning of the second level and decided that, while I would have liked to see the continuation of the plot and more silly modifier nods, I had seen enough of the game.

There were also quite a few neat things in here, like the changing fonts or the silly tortoise race or just generally the plot seemed pretty interesting. I think with a little less gameplay jank, this could be a solid game.

Was fun to play. I liked the acceleration on the ship, though the controls in general were a bit clunky. Implementations on the modifiers were creative and I thought they were well done (in particular, "tiny open world" was really funny). The minigames were all pretty cool and unique, but they also varied widely in difficulty (personally, I found the duck and turtle games to be very hard while the rest were trivial). The spoon boss was kinda tedious imo since its attack pattern made it hard to get a lock onto and its stage was the only one you couldn't just get 80 options and shred everything. The dash mechanic also didn't feel particularly useful, most likely because it wasn't really responsive enough to reliably use (assuming this wasn't intentional, I think a separate button would have been a better choice for dash controls). Overall, I didn't see much "bad" in this game, and the stuff that was there tended to just be annoying, rather than "so bad it's good". Also, making projectiles look like something you'd pickup in a different game and the chaos energy look like a projectile was devious :P

Pretty decent space shooter. Movement was a bit slow, but it was fun getting a lot of orbits and getting really overpowered. I didn't pick up on too many of the modifiers, but there was so many it's hard to remember. Good job, though!

I like the fact the movement isn't too rigid cause you tried to be creative with the movement fee. But its far from perfect and way over the sweetspot that the player feels they have total control over the movement. In my opinion it would benefit being closer to a bullet-hell game controls and overall gameplay. So just by getting rid of the skidding and getting movement and shooting tighter in speed  and/or animation would dramatically improve the gameplay with not much additional effort.

I hope I don't sound very negative because the game overall is outstanding (although not very thematic) for a 9-day window. Just a bit of constructive criticism I hope, and that's just my opinion.

Something is very wrong with the itch page; it looks almost like it thinks it's on mobile. It could be a browser issue on my end; zoom was set to 175% and I don't know why.

The graphics are actually pretty nice, as is the audio. This kinda 16-bit pixel style isn't really my thing, but it's (surprisingly?) well done.

Gameplay-wise, it's a straightforward vertically scrolling shooter, but it's, frankly, a pretty bad one. The movement is horrible. Not only is it slow, but it has the most inertia I've ever felt in a shooter. The UI really needs labels; it's not clear what any of the bars actually mean. It's also not clear which things are bullets and should be avoided and which things are powerups that should be collected. Yes, all of that is explained in the help, but by the time I'm actually in the thick of it I've already forgotten the details.

This was probably all done on purpose, but at least for me it misses the mark on So Bad It's Good and either sits in So Okay It's Average or crosses into So Bad It's Bad.

There's potential in the tongue-in-cheek cliched story, but it's just one screen and then it's over.

However, I didn't get very far in the game; I lost the fight to the comedically large spoon. Based on the description and a few Discord comments I think there's supposed to be more modifier-based, sillier content up ahead. Unfortunately, if it's there it comes too late; my experience with the game was 90% that of a conventional scrolling shooter.
