These 3 toggles represent Land Rock and Water.

If only Land is active, then it wont paint on rocks or the water. great for painting plants that you dont want to accidentally place in the water or on top of rock.

If only Rock is active, It wont paint on land or the water, so you can paint ferns on top of rocks for example.

It is more about what each symbol means.
If I select only water (right?) I cannot add fish, but if I select bump (left) and waves(right) I can add fish.
If the half circle (middle) and waves (right) I can add things to the water.
What are the permutations of the three symbols.

It basically allows you to choose where things get painted. In the example above, i only want flowers on the land and ferns on the rocks

I know what they are supposed to do, I just do not really know what icon represents what function.

Plus, just selecting water does not let me drop things into the water. I must also select one of the other icons.,
Assuming water is the right side icon.
