I beat the final boss, then the thing I freed from the crystal trapped me, then Marian and Naka showed up. It then switched to the two Kitsunes seeing me through clairvoyance and they run off, then the game just returns to the title screen. Pressing continue just returns to my most recent save. Did this happen because I didn't fulfil requirements for the good ending?

Guess I shouldn‘t have immediately saved to my only save file right after I smashed it. Time to start a new game I guess.

Damn, this sounds sad. Autosave maybe? I don't remember how it's configured for the last zone though.

Yeah, it's better to keep a pair of saves around and think about the choices.

It's all good, the autosave actually went to right before the boss fight which was a later save. I decided to start a new game since I hadn't played the game in a long time anyway

I see. I can only suggest making a separate save at the point where you choose your favorite girl. This way you can check all the endings, both good and bad for all girls.
