This is a good little game-in-a-game. I like the design you've got for the game and the gameplay is also good. 1 thing I would change is that when "Start" is pressed, the player spawns on the right side, and they need to move themselves to the left side of the screen to get to the arrow buttons. I think it would be better if the player was on the side from the Start.
Other than that though it was enjoyable!
(My high score is 35).

What an incredible high score Sam, well done! We'll keep that adjustment in mind. Before we implemented the "press A to eat fly" mechanic, we realised that the player had no reason to walk over the glass, so that's why we placed him on the right side, it also means the player has to do a little mad-dash if they want a good score! Thanks for the comment and feedback!

Fun game, would like a bit more complexity in enemy types, or maybe different power ups, to add variety in game situations. But great work, especially visually

Developer(+1)

We hadn't really thought about enemies at all in our game, after all, who would dare harm cute little Pocket Frog? But I absolutely know what you mean, a bit more diversity to gameplay would be good. Will definitely be a priority if we continue work on the game :)

Simple but fun idea! Reminds me a bit of 'Press Ctrl'

Developer

Squarevoid you have completely blown our minds, we didn't know Press Ctrl existed! I'm glad to see the idea in another implementation though and I'm extra glad we didn't accidentally make the *exact* same game!

I love this! The art is so cute and the responsiveness from the controls is just right :) As someone else mentioned, the option of powerups/time extenders would be really cool if you're thinking of developing any further. Overall, you've worked really hard and produced a fantastic game - brilliant work <3

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing the game and taking the time to comment! If we do end up working on the game further we will definitely think of ways to diversify the gameplay a little bit :)

Very original idea and entertaining gameplay! I've always thought of a game where you play as the person that play's the game but thought it would be too tedious but this game executes this idea really well! The Sound effects and the music are just amazing! I couldn't figure out how to eat the flies on my first run and i think that could have been telegraphed better with an animation of the frog taking it's tongue out or just directly tell the player how to do it. The art style is very cute and the SFX and music matches it! I really didn't like that there was a time limit and no way to increase it which means there is a maximum high score. It would be way better if it had an enemy that you could lose to instead. But overall very charming game with a good twist, well done! Good luck on your future project's!

Thanks for the comprehensive feedback! There's definitely lots of things we would improve if we had the time and communicating how to eat flies is one of them! Good point on the timer as well, we just didn't want the game to go on forever. Will consider how to better challenge the player!

I wasn't expect the gameplay of your game lmao! I just love it, really good graphics, simple gameplay, which is really nice for a game jam, and an awesome sound design (I just LOVE the button's sfx and the music)

Great game, very creative idea, amazing art, loved playing it so far!(my high score is 26 as of writing this) Only problem is I thought I had to press a on the keyboard to collect flies.

Developer

Thanks so much for your feedback! I probably should have clarified the "A" button on the console a bit better
