I am going through all submissions to make all developers aware of an important Google form I've made.

I'm joining the IQ folks to help organize smaller events in between the main FQ event in order to help prevent us from getting too many games in main events. Right now, I have a planned structure for these events but I would like to hear from everyone who was in this event in order to tune things better. The survey is a bit long, but it covers as much as I could think of. If you can take the time to do the survey by June 1st, I would immensely appreciate it!

You can find the form here: https://forms.gle/P9LPYwERhJtpZzteA

I LOVED this game. It was freaking hilarious. I did encounter a few glitches. If I jumped into the kill zone from a higher vantage point (the hills), the enemies wouldn't register that I was there. So I would encourage the devs to check trigger points. Otherwise, love love love it and will definitely be playing this one again!

Thanks! I'm very glad you liked it!

The trigger points in the park are a bit iffy. Since this was a two-week jam project some things would require some polish (like, now I'd trigger all the enemies from a group if one of them was attacked), but I'm glad how it turned out.

I'll check out the stream after work :)

Awesome. :D

(1 edit)

Hello from tonight's stream!

This was a lot of fun to play. if there was anything I found annoying, it was the way ammo was done. The machine gun uses so much more ammo than any other weapon but hits so less often. It should have a much higher amount than other weapons do to compensate. By comparison, the shotgun also had 100 shots and hit more often at far range for more damage.

Developer(+1)

Yeah, weapon balance is not easy to do, and we might have nerfed the machine guns too much. Right now, I thing we should have had MGs have more ammo, and slightly better aim. Also, shotgun and cash have too much ammo right now (most of my playtesters told me that one of those is OP). This is something to take in, if we decide to spin this into a bigger project.

Anyway, glad you liked it! Thanks for playing!

If you ever do plan to expand it and requiring someone to test out your versions to give feedback on them, feel free to let me know. :D I'd love to play more of this silliness.

Really enjoyed the feel to this game.  It's a bit choppy on web version and i do not think I can take damage ( not a problem because my aim is pretty bad).  Hope you keep developing this title.

Developer

Yeah, web version has some web-version-specific bugs, but we decided to include it, because lots of people tend to play web builds more often.

Thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed it!

I quite like the idea, but I think there are some annoying tidbits.

The sound is too high pitched, and it ends up becoming annoying (especially with fast firing weapons).

The art style is really nice, and I like the animations, but the lighting is a little flat and the enviroments can get confusing.

All in all, its still good and I recommend it, just needs polishing the other parts of the game to the same level as the hand drawn elements and gameplay.

Developer(+1)

Yeah, sound is not my forte. I know if I were to spin it into a larger project, sound would need some redesigning.

As for flat lightning, this was sort of a choice made to make everything more cartoony, to fit the animated characters. The other way (realistic lightning with low poly environments) sort of clashed with 2d characters.

Anyway- thanks for feedback! Glad you liked it!

Jam Host

Good old hop-and-shoot everything that moves :D It was pretty good, especially for a timed jam entry. Can see it getting even more fun with additions.

Also, the animation on the suppressor was fun :D

For the little things went wrong;

1) Can't really read what's under.

2) Lost the cursor after alt-tabbing, multiple times, and had to restart the game. But luckily game saves nicely so no harm was done.

That's all!

Developer(+1)

Noooo! We added the guy at the last moment, so the menu wouldn't be empty, and I forgot to disable him when entering the credits screen :D

Save system was added, because in the beginning I wanted the game to be more robust, with unlocks and such. Then it occurred to us, that all this would be pretty hard in two weeks, so we tied unlocks to level goals, but the save system remained.

Nice of you to notice the suppressor animation! My graphics guy tells me that making things shorter ant then longer suddenly is pretty standard technique, but I do agree with you- it looks fun!

Fun little game, love the theme and the different characters. The art style stands out the most, while the gameplay is a bit plain but the shooting is solid. Needs more polish.

The game was fun, overall art is alright with the theme if that was intended, it is funny to see them die and they are just a plane image lol.  I feel there could be more to it and even more enemies,  it's the kind of game you could come to release some stress of the day. Not fan of the music and sound too much, but maybe it is just me. Still it's a nice game!

Developer(+1)

I was aiming at the feel of 90's shooters, hence the 2d images :)

As for there being more- this was originally made for a two week jam, so some features (more weapons, more bad guys, more levels) got cut. If I were to make a bigger version, there would be more of everything.

As for sound... firstly- I know I'd add more if I had time- footsteps, hurt sounds, that kind of thing. Right now I feel the game gives you just enough feedback via sound, but it could be more fleshed out.
