Wait, I was playing the bad guy all along??

I finally beat your game, I had a good time! Here are a few things I've noted during gameplay :

  • The environments are streamlined, there was no way to get lost, did you simplify the layout of the dungeon?
  • The city environment is gorgeous, way better looking than the dungeon or the castle, some decor like chains in the dungeon or arrow slits in the castle would bring them more to life,
  • a quick save mechanism would be nice, especially if you plan on expanding the game
  • I'm not sure you own the rights to that last boss' music 😉
  • That ending text was quite long and way less immersive than your opening dialog, what happened to the guy who helped the alchemist escape?

There's a lot of potential if you decide to keep working on this, maybe with different playable characters that play differently with the cauldron mechanics.

I'm glad I had the opportunity to beat it!

I'm terms of other characters you're basically describing slay the spire which I love.

In terms of dungeon layout, they should be randomized you may have just gotten simple RNG.

The reason the town looks as lot better than the dungeon or the castle is because the dungeon was done in a 3 day period for the mini jam along with all of the base game mechanics. I spent a couple of casual days on the town then I ran out of time for the dungeon crawler jam and finished the castle and throne room in like 4 hours.

The original minijam limitation was 'you're not the hero' hence the alchemist being a bad guy.

The end text was literally just chat Gpt writing me an epilogue.

The castle music is also copy right infringement. Castlevania on the gb
