Haha, this story did spring up as an AU to Quaint, so the similarities are not coincidental. ^^ (it's not 1 to 1 though, and it made sense to use the alternate spellings in this context)
And you're right about the social norms! I also feel they'd be especially hard to fight against in this setting and I'd definitely want to delve into it more if I decided to make this into a bigger project. ^^
