Haha, well, that wasn't just included as a joke. :P One of the girls works on a farm. You can help her out on the farm in a couple different ways, but - even better! - after you have a kid with her, one of the ways you play with that kid is by... tending to a garden with them. ♥

You have kids AND can play with them! :D Some have pretty detailed and wonderfully wholesome scenes added in already.
But, yeah, gardening. It's actually in the game, at least a little bit. :P
