Oh, for goodness sake... You did nothing wrong, and it sounds like someone tried (and succeeded) in convincing you it's the equivalent of the n word or something. It is not, and the word WENDIGO is not a "cursed" word; that's a load of superstitious nonsense. A wendigo is a creature from Native American folk lore, period, full stop. If we can't even speak about FOLK LORE, of all things, this is truly a clown world and I am SO tired of it.

It's your game so you can ultimately do what you want, but I don't think you should ever allow others to guilt trip you or brainwash you into thinking you committed some crime when you did nothing of the sort.

xeb, calling someone's beliefs superstition is really dismissive, and this is a weird hill to die on. I think it was really nice that the devs made this change because it isn't a huge thing to ask, literally just censoring a word that doesn't appear very many times. Even if you think it's silly, the word being censored doesn't hurt you, so why not respect the request?

Oh, please. Going with the "hill you want to die on" bit? Really, now? How about this: the vast majority of poc don't buy into this censor every little thing nonsense, and are speaking out on it more and more, particularly when nothing was ever offensive to begin with. Step out of the echo chamber and actually see what people are saying about how harmful this gibberish is (hello, CRT); how patronizing and infantilizing treating poc (or any group really, not to mention the anti-white and asian hate) this way is, as if they're all brainless, spineless children that require treatment with kid gloves. Do some self-reflection and Knock it off.

EDIT: Treating superstitious nonsense this way isn't "dismissive", it's living in reality. Get over it.

We do not need you dismissing our culture and beliefs as "nonsense" nor do we want you comparing it to Christian mythology. Our culture is closed, you are not to weigh in. The author should have changed the name of the monster entirely. Censoring the word is the least to be done. Us continuing to demand our culture be at least respected somewhat is not "gibberish" nor is it "infantilizing." You do not speak for us, in any capacity, ever. Respect our culture. End of discussion.

Don't know how I only noticed this months later, but anyway... posting this here since Itch won't let me respond to that Echo user below. If Itch allows people to block others, and then you can't respond to them... bruh. How pathetic is it to block someone because you can't handle them disagreeing with you on the internet? Doubt she or he will see this, but w/e.

1: I never mentioned anything about Christianity, but another poster did, so maybe actually check who you're responding to before hitting that "post reply" button, honey. Also, I'm an atheist, so it's all nonsense to me—get over it.

2: "Our" culture? Oh, please. Even if you are NA, YOU do not speak for everyone who is, full stop, and plenty who are do not share your backwards views. Furthermore, no culture is "closed", so what are you even on about? No-one gets to talk about any culture, ever, except those who are supposedly a part of it? Miss me with that (actual) regressive nonsense. Sharing stories, food, clothing, etc., across cultures can enrich society as a whole, but here you are, endorsing staying in an isolated little bubble. Brilliant.

3: Speaking of "curses" like they're actually real IS superstitious nonsense, honey, and blindly following the words of some hyper sensitive, virtue-signalling person on a discord server claiming using the word WENDIGO (again, a creature from NA folklore) is honestly sad. It's people like you that are making society as a whole worse. Step out of your regressive echo chamber and grow up.

You didn't really respond to Max's point so I'm gonna repeat it. It's literally just censoring a word. Even if you think it's silly, the word being censored doesn't hurt anyone and actually might make some people happy, so why does it matter so much? The dev did a nice thing, it's fine lol.

(+1)(-2)

I did, actually, but sure, ignore it. Here, I'll say the same thing again in a different way, just for you: it was a pointless change and achieves nothing except making some virtue-signaling keyboard activists (whiners) pat themselves on the back because they made someone on the internet remove a single word in a visual novel—someones' (their) knickers might get in a twist otherwise! Oh no! These mighty internet warriors, these saviors, fighting on behalf of the poor, poor poc. I'm sure everyone out their with actual problems really appreciate it. /s (if it wasn't obvious)

This sort of thing has been happening daily, on much larger scales in the west, with far more important things than a visual novel. So, do you understand? Is it clicking for you yet? Hope so, because I've already spent one minute too many on this circus, so have fun, I guess.
