I'll stick to niche jams from now on I think. 

The game is meant to be a losing situation. You have turned to God as many did during the plague and there is no help for you. There is no end game once you get to the church there is a message. I forget what it says but it basically means that nobody can save you and you will die. There is no hidden meaning in relation to religious agenda or modern society.

It's more of a 'You were a bad and greedy person and only now your deathbed  you turn to God as a last ditch effort to save yourself'. That's it. It just came to me one day after reading a couple of novels set during the Bubonic Plague. It's more of thought provoking atmospheric experience rather than a game.
