Thanks for the feedback! Sorry it took so long for me to respond, I just noticed this (I am also new to posting on itch.io). You pretty much nailed why the jumping and air control overall felt odd. It was a head-scratcher in the moment, but seeing your words helped me make sense of it. I'll definitely keep this in mind the next time I make a platformer/metroidvania-esque prototype/game, or if I ever decide to re-upload an updated version of this game. This was quite the learning experience.
