Which Theme from the list did you choose to implement in your game?

Witching Hour

How did you choose to implement your chosen Theme in your game?
Its about a Witch doing witchy things.

Did you implement any of the optional Bonus Challenges, and if so, which ones?
Witchcraft - You are fly on a broom stick and can cast spells
Familiar - He is there and you can find him if you look hard enough.
Not as it seems - I don't want to ruin any surprises but I filled this challenge too.

This was a lot of fun!

I agree with the others that Mcgee is hard - although once I got the familiar it became a lot easier.  I got to the 'not as it seems' surprise, which was very cool - but either it crashed at that point or I was clicking so frantically everywhere I closed my own browser window!

Really enjoyed this!

thanks I didn’t have a crash in my many test plays but I did forget to add a reset upon your death.

I would be interested if you can give me any more info on the crash as I will look at fixing it after the voting process.

thanks again 😀

No worries.  I tried again, and got to the same spot without a crash - so I think it was very likely just a user error caused by over-enthusiasm!

I honestly got into this one. I mean, that McGee is FAST! I didn’t get him. I got taken out by the surprise (I think). Note to self: don’t scorn this particular witch. Ha ha.

The art is charming and the variety of the gameplay is actually surprising. It shows a lot of creativity with what I think is a fairly limited game engine.

I’m curious why it isn’t wide screen. This would have made it a little easier and I don’t think that would have been a bad thing.

I also think the controls could be a bit better. Maybe support game pad?

And a health bar would have been nice. I tried the game a couple times and died and that was it. Just done. A health bar would have made the game a little more forgiving.

We have a witch in our game. She’s not as pretty, and that was on purpose. We also have goblin helpers as familiars. But we stopped short of the third bonus challenge due to time constraints. Anyway, we would love for you to try our game if you can and let us know what you think! Thanks!

Developer

thanks so much, I will definitely give your game a go 😀

you are right wide screen would have been fine, I think I just keep barking back to what I grew up on lol.

In hindsight I made McGee to fast / difficult when I was trying hard to make sure the game was not too easy oops. It really easy to over compensate in areas like this.

I did make a Horror style ending and leader board but as I ramped the challenge it is just me there.

thanks again for playing.

Even though i had a bit of a hard time with the controls, once you got the hang of it it works nicely, theres secrets in this game to find which is always a plus.

Developer

thanks so much for giving it a good nudge - much appreciated.

Ha!!!! the controls were tricky but fun, maybe too chaotic but she's flying a broom so it adds up. the story was great, i really felt for the character lol and he ran too fast for my poor dexterity, so i never taught him the lesson he deserves.

McGee might not look like much of a runner when you first encounter him, but man, hit him with some magic and that guy can *cook*.   Fun game -- I played it a bunch and 72% was my best.  Very satisfying shooting animation and sound, I enjoyed the humor of it (love how McGee's clothes go to tatters, e.g.), and most importantly, when I lost I wanted to see if I could do better.  Nice job also of making the appearance of the green ghosts not immediately kill you -- they felt very fair.  Nice!

Some suggestions for further development that I hope could be helpful: Once McGee hit 59% he was running so fast that I couldn't catch up to him, and hitting him only with shots when he zooms past could only get me so far, given the way the percentage falls over time.  You might think about slowing his run back down once he comes back down under the percentage thresholds, or perhaps slowing down the rate at which the percentage falls, or some other balancing adjustment like that.  Separately, at times I struggled to control the witch, particularly where I wanted to slow her down or change direction, though perhaps others will have more skill than me!

Nice job with this!

thanks so much for checking it out and taking the time to give me such helpful feedback 😀

it’s always hard when making a game as you tend to play so much your context of difficulty gets screwed and easy mode becomes hard lol

there I Is a fun ending and high score table if you can hit the 💯

thanks again
