If these are meant to be game assets, I'd recommend converting them to .obj or .fbx

.max can be used in UE4 with a plugin but that seems to be it, .3ds doesn't seem to have any form of support

If these are just educational assets for 3DS Max users then feel free to ignore

Many game engines support 3ds format. If yours doesn't, it's easy enough to convert them from .3ds to .obj or .fbx

I used meshlab to convert them to .obj if that can help?!
