When I first started here on itch.io we didn’t need to get approved
We have always required approval for sending unsolicited emails from an account, it’s mandatory to prevent people from using our services to send spam.
I’m sorry our support team hasn’t gotten back to you request yet, but patience is definitely appreciated over being rude. If you know you’re going to need to create a new account to send emails from then I highly recommend setting up that in advance of your deadline to avoid any issues in the future.
For anyone else who may be having trouble and has stumbled across this topic:
- Ensure that you contact us using the email address on the account
- Please have the project you wish to send emails from filled out with information so our team can review what you are trying to distribute. You can also write your first email and save it on your account so we can see it
Because sending out mass emails for crowd funding campaigns is a free service we provide we must vet accounts that wish to send emails so that we don’t hurt our own sending reputation and can continue to provide the service to everyone.
Approval is handled on a per account basis, so once your account is approved you can send emails. Any new accounts will need to be reviewed and approved.
