Did you try to mix the food with the meal?

yes, i tried that. I get "You can't do that right now."

Is there any other requirement (i do have both food and meal in my inventory) for this action?

Seems there is another way to deal with monster. I just succeeded with that other method.

I found out that you must include the word "rotten" when mixing the food with the meal even though you do not need to include the word "rotten" if you just examine the food, e.g. X FOOD works fine.  It would be good to make the word  "rotten" optional when mixing the food with the meal.
