Whenever you are on the computer screen, your task bar will fill. When it fills completely, you earn money. If you visit another screen, you become distracted and progress is reset. Keeping your bars in a healthy state (plenty of water and snacks, and not full of waste), then you'll progress quickly through your task. If you're hungry and thirsty, then you'll find tasks are slow to complete.
