Hello Zakaria
Thank you so much for spending lots of time within my project. It really means a lot to me.
Wow, that's a long comment. Probably the longest I have received so far. I always enjoy receiving feedback.
A quick response to the first part. Yes, I do watch every playthrough video which includes one of my games. Likewise, I always read all the feedback people are writing to me and I also leave a comment on their channel as well. It doesn't really matter to me, whether the youtuber has 10 subs or 100000 subs. When people spend time and effort creating videos and feedback, that’s the least I can do.
To the game
Unfortunately you were playing a slightly older version. Some of these issues you were experiencing have already been addressed.
- The torch was bugged. You could turn the camera around to enable it. However it has been fixed by now.
- There was also this heavy glittering effect on the loot items, which I have reduced significantly. It can’t be seen at long distances anymore. Something went wrong when I built the game (Your version).
- I’m also glad you liked the random audio effects. I did however reduce the amount a little bit.
- The dungeon asset is made by Triplebrick, so credits goes to them for making a cool looking asset package.
- You were right that the static torches were causing the lag. I have halved the amount of lit torches at the double bridges (Halls of lost souls). It helped a little bit on my end, when I tested it. Obviously, the FPS drops can be improved upon even more.
- The “Next Page” when reading stuff, has also been fixed. It should have said “Right Mouse to Exit”. This has also been fixed
- The player (FPS-Controller) being used, is the old one from the Unity Standard Asset package. It’s not the greatest. It can get stuck on edges in the ground, wooden beams etc. I’m aware there’s a new improved one available that I can use. I have already played around with it a couple of times, but I had some trouble making it work as I wanted it to. However there’s a new update available. I might try again to get the FPS-Controller implemented, and throw the old one far away.
- I didn't know jumping while dead was a thing, but I’ll have it fixed asap. Good job pointing that out.
- Sneaking past the lost souls inside the cathedral, with no light doesn’t make any difference. I probably should make it possible to do so however.
- I’m always grateful to view the map being used often. Yes I should probably add some arrows which indicate the North direction. However, I did leave small hints on the map, such as the northern/southern bridge, eastern entrance etc. I think North always has to be pointing up on a map. I’m not sure. However if that’s the case, either I have to make a whole new map, which I don't want to or make a new compass label which is the easy route for me to do. Then I just have to rename some of the stuff.
- The usage of loot has no point other than getting a great score, when the game is done. There’s probably too much loot in the dungeon. I might reduce some of it. I do share and like your idea including a marketplace, where the player can sell and buy new stuff. It could be some sort of town. The same goes for other levels /locations.
- I’m also fond of the idea of implementing a combat system, but unfortunately it will take me years to pull that through on my own. But who knows. Nothing is impossible.
- I have forgotten about that missing checkpoint between the bridges. I will add one.
- Good job finding my secret hideout. It’s not truly identical to my apartment, but it’s close.
- You were spending a lot of time in the prison without finding the two levers. I was actually surprised you didn’t. There was one on the wall behind the spiked chair. The second one was on the floor between the two wooden doors (180 degrees from Richard's cell).
- You also mentioned the last person of the three. She’s not in the game yet, but I am going to implement her later on. When I have done the AI etc. I did consider if I should place her in a prison cell or somewhere else. We'll see.
- You could have left the dungeon with the crown, but you chose to exchange it for the disc instead. As you already know, the disc grants your freedom. If you kept the crown instead, you had to do a ritual. That’s what the blood, bottles and dagger was for. I don’t want to spoil anything if you decide to go again at some point. There’s 12 ending scenarios.
- Finally, I might add voice lines to the player at some point too.
I believe that sums it all up.
Thanks again for everything. It was very helpful to me.
I’ll be more than happy to join your community.
Best Regards
