You don't need to uninstall the game, you can just delete the app's data and that will do the same, but faster.
And on the current android build, you need the fast clouds option on (or something like that) for it to work (or it will crash as soon as you reach the map), also enabling preload will crash the game instantly the next time you open it.
Also, the game crashes when you spend a lot of time in a town, but you can hit continue at the main menu and it will send you right before the crash happened, and you can keep playing normally.
