Update - I am having the same issue trying to download directly from the site. If I enable the alternate download mode (on the web site), I am able to download. Looks like an issue with the primary CDN.
This is unrelated to the issue the OP was having. Are you still having an issue downloading? We haven't seen any issues with out CDN.
I just left on vacation. I’ll try next week when I am home.
I have returned and now the CDN is working correctly so I could install my games using the itch application.
