I actually wanna know if there's any lore to this. How the heck did this happen anyways?

I always have some internal lore that I build the game around, but I rarely ever share it all! You can just chalk this whole thing up to people messing around with forces they didn’t understand 😁

No wonder it feels so familiar. Nothing is there for no reason, and it just drags you in that way. Never stop. You have caught my attention as a shmup aficionado.

So is it just Los Angeles that got destroyed as mentioned in groaning metal? Because the hints there imply that all of earth got it, Unless there's some chronology here?

I'm thinking frontier diver happened first, that incident brought back some "Things" back to land, then groaning metal, and the events of that led people to flee to space colonies? meaning that this game would need to take place a considerable time into the future. Maybe eventually, the lifeforms ran out of organic matter of the human (and animal?) variety meaning it would have no choice but to detach and fly off planet...

Frontier Diver proved it didn't infect water and must make contact with objects to bond, so assuming to even latch onto inanimate objects such as... buildings? It would need at least say... one, just one human host within it to form around and bond, like the cars.

Groaning metal could be the result of a returned infected sub from the pacific and it spread to LA, if it's all of California could give an explanation of giving the IMPRESSION that it's the entire planet infected...

Yes, it's lengthy and not enough direct info to support my ideas other than visual and vague source material, it's the way they filled in games through visual and deductive reasoning in old eras, like those old FPS games and such.
