I love the original take on the theme of this jam! Whereas most games in the jam have you play as the hunted, the player is the hunter. The spearfishing mechanics are actually quite comfortable to use. Great zooming and movement. I actually thought the difficulty could have been a little higher!

The overarching narrative, being lured by a toothy krakenlike being by feeding it sacrifices, was pretty neat. I thought the twist of resorting to murder was a great touch - I wonder what was so compelling about the monster that the player character was driven to such depths of depravity?

Design wise, this is pretty decent. Your use of an ingame map, animated models and pathing, and a few stages of hunting, demonstrate a good skill with 3D programming. It wasn't a surprise that you have a number of 3D games under your belt in a similar vein because you clearly have a lot of skill.

Just some random thoughts of feedback:

  • I was surprised that there was a scoring system at the end! It wasn't very clear as to how the score was calculated based on what I had done, given the kills were a prerequisite to the end state of the game.
  • The environment was probably actually appropriate for a game like this, but ordinarily it would feel a bit barren. Exploration can be a motive that draws people to keep playing a game, usually when the ingame environments are detailed or varied enough to entice a bit of open-ended wandering. But for a jam game it's totally fine!

I did a video playthrough below:

This was great stuff! I really hope you keep developing and creating experiences like this.

Thanks so much for the kind words and feedback! The scoring system was added early on and I didn't end up fleshing it out as much as I had planned, there are more fish/divers than what you need to hunt so any extras will add to the score.
