It is explained near the start of the game that you can save on screens where you can read the line "You can save the game". You have the chance to do this at the end of every day.
That's also a problem. I played for three hours and lost all my progress because my roomie woke up and I had to get off the computer. They aren't going to wait for me to reach a save point in an eroge. We both play erotic games, but this is the first that doesn't let you save except at specific screens.
I don't know why you disallow saving except at the end of the day… I can't imagine there's any benefit to anyone.
Animal Crossing use to require you to use a your bed to save; but the newest game lets you save anywhere. So, I can see some logic to saving when you go to bed for emmersion; but the logic doesn't really sit well with me for a NSFW game — a game for adults, who usually have less freedom when it comes to their gaming times — which may need to be closed quickly for any number of reasons.
If the autosave actually saved (my roomie's laptop often wipes files that aren't created manually), then I can at least start from the beginning of the first actual day with some of my character progress from the prologue(?) still intact.
The biggest reason why saving is only allowed at specific screens is because saving during sex/battles scenes or most importantly during map periods would require to save all the information regarding AI states, which would bloat the memory size of the save, which implies another plethora of problems due to how Twine manages its games' memory. I could also go on about how allowing to save anywhere discourages players from being careful about their choices, which is a more subjective discussion in which we could disagree, but given that the technical side has higher priority there isn't much point in that debate anyway. In any case, during the prologue you should have had two or three opportunities to save - if your computer removes files that aren't created manually, I strongly encourage you to use the Save to Disk option.
All of this aside, I'm glad about reading in your comment below that you're enjoying the game, even if there are QoL issues that hinder your gameplay session.
Ah; I see. A.I. states can be a problem for certain saves. As for the players being careful with their actions bit, I imagine that's also why I can't back up on android when the screen misreads where I want to tap.
Speaking of, it'd be nice to have a play in browser version for Android users, as Google or Samsung has made it so local pages can't load local files; which makes little sense to me, though I'm sure there's some kind of reason.
And yes, I quite enjoy it. I may make a Patreon pledge to get the cheat mode, as I don't get a lot of alone time; and I generally wish to experiment with cheat modes when the devs impliment said modes themselves.
I had read the part about when it allows saving; I played for about two hours before posting to see if I enjoyed the game. I make an effort to only complain about issues I have with games I actually enjoy.
If I don't like the game there's not going to be any fixes, improvements, or changes (aside from changing the game entirely) that'll make me enjoy it.
So don't think I'm saying the game is terrible because I can't save; I'm saying I don't see the point in playing; as I'm often in situations where I need to exit the game a.s.a.p. and won't be able to finish the current day as a result. I've cut back on streaming to have some time to myself, and not being able to save when I need to get off the laptop makes it difficult to fully enjoy your work.
