Intro

Hi! I'm Jerry. I'm a project manager. I have some very limited experience in development over the years, but nothing major. I recently had an idea for a game and when I stumbled upon DragonRuby last night I thought that it may be a useful engine for me to bring my idea into the real world.

Dev Setup (ha):

  • Monitors: Dual Asus 22 Inch and one AORUS FI27Q

  • Super Mario Bros.
  • The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Languages I Know (Sorted by most proficient to least):

  1. English

(Yeah, I know the first two aren't really what everyone else is going with here, but the last two are so weak I had to offset them with things I was actually proficient at.)

Hi all, I’m Lucas. I’ve been in game dev for a while, and am now a Senior Lecturer at Massey University in Wellington, New Zealand, teaching game dev. I’m super keen to see what DragonRuby is like.

Hello, my name is Devin. I've been doing business software development since 1996 and some hardware/firmware development since around 2010. I have developed games in the past but only as a hobby. I love the momentum that DragonRuby has going for it and hope I can provide some helpful feedback.

I purchased DragonRuby as part of the Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality. Thank you for making it part of the bundle!

Internet:

I don't have as big of a footprint on the Internet that I used to have. Part of that is scaling back to something reasonable that allows me time to focus on what I want to do now.

  • Box(es): HP ZBook 17 with Win7, Core i7 and 32GB RAM, Lenovo ThinkPad
  • Monitor(s): 17" built-in on laptop with 32" on the wall behind my desk

  • Editor: Notepad++ and Visual Studio Code currently

Hello,

My name is Madeline, am 20yo game creator from Netherlands.

Social:

will add

Dev setup:

Dunno if i can call it that but i have a Thinkpad E595 with many peripherals like microphones and graphics tablets which doesn't really add to the dev experience, but i am not as much of developer as i am artist. It's not like i struggle with coding, i just always get too ambitious with art.

Languages i know:

C, C#, GML, Python

Top games:

Wolfenstein series (I love every single entry in the series, am a big fan lol), Minecraft, Pretty much any sandbox game that runs smoothly and is not broken, EVE online,

Intro

My name is Michael. But I go by Myst online. (Just easier)

Internet:

I don't have a ton of active social media that I feel like setting out into the public. Sorry.

Dev Setup:

I'm not a hundred percent sure what I have other than its an older Acer Inspiron laptop that runs decent enough. Ideally, I would have something better but I'm a college student so we all know how that goes.

Top 5 Games!:

1. Skyrim

2. Minecraft

3. Stardew Valley

4. Sims 4

5.  LoZ: Breath of the Wild

Languages I Know:

Unfortunately, I only know a little bit of Java and C++ but I really want to learn more and get into coding more. I think that this will help me do that a lot.

Intro

I’m John, nickname LynxJSA. Have been dabbling in coding for quite a while. Recently started making little web and Android games. Spotted this engine in the bundle and it piqued my interest. Looking to dive in and hopefully learn as thing or two about a thing or two.

Hello! I go by Howl. Some also refer to me as Silver.

Internet:

I'll get around to linking things once I feel proud of things I've accomplished. For now, I'd rather not like my personal accounts to be public.

Top Games:

1. Pokemon Black/White
2. Stardew Valley
3. Legend of Spyro: Eternal Night
4. Undertale
5. Toontown Rewritten

Languages I Know:

I'm... honestly still a heavy beginner. The only languages I know or started to learn have been Python, HTML, and C#, thanks to Unity forcing it down on me. I'm really excited to see what I can learn from all of this.

Intro

What's poppin, my name's Gabe. On almost every account I have, I go by AlphaTheKoolKid, or AlphaTKK. I think I'm definitely on the younger spectrum of people here, being 17 (class of 2020), since most of everyone else who's introduced themselves here seems to be in their mid-late 20's, or at least in college. But I digress, I'm just a kid who's always wanted to be a game dev. I've had ideas in my mind for years, my oldest (and most fleshed-out) of which originating from 4th grade. I came across DragonRuby after I bought the bundle for racial justice and inequality and I knew I just had to give it a try. I've still got somewhat minimal experience with code though, mainly all of my knowledge is from my AP Computer science principles class I took this year.
But yeah, my dream is to become a real game dev so I can express my stories and ideas for real.

Internet:

Lmao all I mainly care about is Discord and YouTube. I stream almost consistently on Twitch too, but I wouldn't sell out here.

Dev Setup:

Bruh all I've got is an epic gamer laptop that can almost handle as much as a standard PC, it's this thing https://www.asus.com/us/ROG-Republic-Of-Gamers/ROG-Strix-Hero-Edition/

1. Pokemon Sword/Shield
2. Pokemon Diamond
3. Pokemon Prism
4. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Sky
5. Kirby and the Amazing Mirror
Why yes I am into competitive Pokemon how did you know

Languages:
I know some JavaScript from AP CSP but that's it hehe

I'm Justin, I've been a .Net developer for 10 years now or so.  I've been of-and-on trying to make a game for...pretty much ever, but I always got hung up on what tools I should use, and what I should learn.  This looks like a dead-simple and easy program to put simple graphics and text on the screen, and I don't need to get into the tooling weeds to get something out there.  Also I'd like to make something serious with a more dynamic language, to get out of my little C# world.

Dev machine:

With this, I'll probably use my 15" Macbook 2014, got it refurbished and it's been a workhorse for me.  I bring home the bacon on my Windows machine, but working with Ruby in Windows is generally Not Fun, so Mac it is!

Top 10 Games:

  • Harvest Moon 64
  • Hyper Light Drifter
  • Destiny
  • Total War
  • Stellaris
  • Sonic 3 & Knuckles
  • Diddy Kong Racing
  • Dawn of War II
  • Ocarina of Time
  • Journey

Languages I know:

  • C#
  • Javascript
  • Clojure
  • Python
  • Ruby
  • SQL
  • C/C++
  • Rust (kinda)
  • Haskell (kinda)
  • Erlang (kinda)

I've dipped my toes into a ton of languages and software, only to abandon it later when some other shiny thing caught my eye.

Hey everyone ! I'm thifl a french IT student who finished his 2nd year at college. I wanted to do a fun project these holidays but I was not sure what i could do, so when I saw DragonRuby in the "Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality" my mind was set :) I'll try to have fun with the engine and maybe launching a little game at the end of august !

I'm Anthony (aka Matazar), a French astrophysicist working in Germany, always loved video games and have already built a few prototypes of my own. I want to build a video game using my knowledge of Astronomy and Research in it. I also am interested in linguistics and want to try and include that into a project someday :). Most of my coding experience has come from my research projects.

Yo, I’m Tom, I’ll be graduating with a Masters in Comp. Sci. from St Andrews in about a week from today. I love videogames, and plan on joining the industry as soon as I can! (hire me plz)

I have a webpage that I try and keep up-to-date with my active internet presences.

My favourite games and Hollow Knight and Celeste, with big shout outs to Gunpoint, Superbrothers: Swords & Sworcery, and Quadrilateral Cowboy.

I know a few different languages through my course, and enjoy writing in any of them. I haven’t tried out Ruby before, but my brief look through the DragonRuby guides and such tells me I’m going to enjoy it ;)

Looking forward to chatting to you all and learning new things :D
