Bug updates. Looks like there's a specific small window if you close the shop after a customer - that they're no able to recover from.

My guess is....

Directly at the shop - there's an NPC correction path

But once on the road, there's not an NPC correction path existing outside of the path-proper - Thus, there's no pathing for them and they're dismissed from being a customer, so they stop using the customer exit pathing or something....

So if they're right by your fence, and not yet on the road, Do not Close shop you should probably wait to close shop when you can verify they've despawned, or while the other is spawning - as I imagine there's a fair bit of "NPC correction" on the main road they walk until they get to the shop - because you can at any point, close shop, and it makes the most sense for the correction to exist there, as they will guaranteedly be on that path for a good majority of their existence._____________

Geoff and Stealing.

Turns out. If you steal, currently, They forget they're stolen on reload (**** At least they do if they're in your shop)

I had a pile of stolen handles I kept near the forge for my own tools because of the earlier stealing experiments. But when I ran into the Shop customer pathing error earlier, I had to, unfortunately, reload, no choice, which was not what I wanted to do.

Unfortunately. I'm going to have to again pretty much immediately, because on day 8, I finally got one of the customers to demand from me an Adamantine Sword - And I was like Wooo, Express rich! GET OUT OF HERE YOU SCAMP :D (he wanted a shield too, But I ignored that and dismissed him after the sword.)

Hastily once he was out of my door way, I closed and then bought three new adamantine ingots and made a pick, where I saw the stolen handles were no longer stolen, all of them, not just one stray that could've been excused as a handle that got knocked over there.

You may be wondering, or may not if you remember my earlier bug findings... How did a customer request adamantine.

Well.

I got an adamantine ingot, and a steel ingot, from the secret loot chest. - and then when I had to reload - I got another adamantine ingot... oh and another steel but at that point that didn't matter.

Earlier before the reload I'd managed to sell enough for /one/ tin ingot. Which I promptly scrapped together with a copper ingot, and gave myself 2 bronze ingots to make a new hammer with, and was biding my time waiting for someone to ask for a dagger or an adamantine dagger - which then escalated to an adamantine sword when I got the second ingot.

ANYWAY....Stealing just became a matter of reloading and then its duper easy.

_______________

Also side note, we'll see in the next reload. But it looks like the sword pedestal's shield will remain iron/whatever if it isn't in the shop's radius on reload....

Or maybe it was because of me tampering with it that it became permanent....

I took it home and since I had 1 steel and 1 adamantine, I obviously tried to make a boss out of those and attach it to it, which worked.... to attach it... but it basically has no identity. It just shows up as "Adamantine" or "Steel" no shield, etc.

The Boss can be re-detached at that point and it'll go back to be unnamed entirely. - Usually when it is left unnamed entirely and reload, it changed to copper, where the handles could also be knocked off, but not the rim, and it still wouldn't understand what the shield was

Oh.

_____________

Smelter bug, user error

______

when you toss items into the smelter, they can creater ores, which can be grabbed and dragged out of the smelter if the smelter isn't "up to heat" - They won't generally make ores if the smelter is already cooking at "smelting" heat.

Anyway. If for instance. You have  a STEEL boss that you turn the smelter on for, and while its heating up, take the steel ore out and play around with it. The Smelter will... technically.. break... - It won't finish smelting the ore, that's for sure, and it won't fully shut off, that's for sure, It will likely console the steel ore if you try to put it back, but it won't make anything from it. or even try.

It's hard to say if there's not a way to recover from this user error - But the bug itself of perpetual smelter can be fixed by sticking something else in while it's on.

It'll try and break it down into ores and seems to try and start the heating up process over again, and then will only finish that item, and shut back off.  Thus fixing the smelter bug.

The user error obviously the steel ingot is gone in /that/ scenario - but I do not know if it could be fixed by sticking an ore/item in that the smelter recognizes, and then while its producing that ingot, stick the steel in that it initially started with.- I imagine it might.. but I don't have the option to test that.

__________

I've probably mentioned this before, and assuming I had is the reason I haven't mentioned it again. but just in case.

Something I saw in 0.0.82 was that if the smelter was producing an ingot, the fuel could be turned off, and it would finish producing that one ingot - and then require it to be turned on briefly to produce the next ingot - meaning you could save a minute amount of fuel with the additional tedium of managing the on off switch in timing with the ingots

ores to smelt -> Smelter on till ingot process begins -> Ingot process begins for first ingot -> smelter can be turned off -> Ingot process finishes for first ingot -> Stop -> Smelter toggled quickly on and then immediately off again -> Ingot process begins for next ingot -> Process finish -> stop -> repeat.

______

Not necessarily a bug....

but.. I've yet to see Zinc Ores.... vein or otherwise... do they actually exist? or is only the Brass ingot obtainable and only via that chest...? carbon and the easy one, Tin, exist, very easily so, but Not a single vein seen of zinc, neither in shop nor sandbox.

OH!

well then oh shit!

Turns out the experiment I was about to run on the Sword Pedestal shield was already proven.

Ignore what I said about it needed to be in the shop zone.

Turns out That if you attach a boss to it, It'll tag it with that metal.

the Last boss I attached to it was Steel, so it remained steel looking.

Had I attached the Adamantine to it and been forced to reload, It would've changed the entire thing to adamantine, And I just knocked off the handles as if it was copper/reloaded - and they're steel - which means they could've been two additional free Adamantine ingots had I left it adamantine. - curse my experimenting ways not making adamantine be the final test...

So Now I have two steel handles - the rim and board still aren't reclaimable or anything. and the only reason I figured this out before reloading, was cause I was about to attach Mithril boss to it from the leftover funds from selling Adamantine sword/making pick - see if I could leave the mithril boss attached to it at the pedestal and see if it would "become a shield" on reload.

The boss wouldn't attach. leading me to try and dismantle it again.

When I had the second customer stuck. I went ahead and decided I was going to try in-game New Game - Which before, was causing the game to freeze - Going back to the main menu for any reason after boot-up caused freezing, heck, 1/4th of the times it boots up, it stops, either in fade in or in some other spot.....

But this is just visual proof if you use the 1st day, go and grab the secret chest - Get lucky***** you could make a titanium or mithril boss or something, and boom. a single lucky ingot turns into three.

and I got a Brass ingot as the other item in the chest. Not that the two of them could've equated to the three of these anyway....

I did try leaving the boss on the shield this time around - as it obviously is noticeable above. Clearly did not change anything one way or the other... The reason I wanted to try leaving it on is because it says "Mithril" with it on, but goes back to being (            ) with it off. so I wanted to see if that would somehow affect it becoming a full blown shield or not, or possibly even causing it to delete itself as an error.

of course. Thanks to resmelt - these three little beauts can become a pick or anything a customer might ask for (since I have bronze and they'll at least ask for Adamantine as previously mentioned) (oh, yeah, Totally made hundreds stealing from Geoff. Quite easy once you know how it functions. - I think reloading clears it back to zero, not that it matters ...
