Hello there. This is my first time at the Yuri Game Jam, but I'm no stranger to game jams in general, being a Global Game Jam and Ludum Dare veteran since 2014. So here it is: my first ever Yuri Jam entry.

Title: Sunday at the Memories ~The Girl at the Fountain~
Genre: Visual novel (linear)
Engine: Ren'Py
Rating: All-ages (bordering on the ESRB T rating for some suggestive scenes)
Brief synopsis: Set in the present-day Philippines. A girl who loves listening to old songs on the radio every Sunday morning reminisces of her lost love. And then...

What I've been up to since the beginning of the jam

Barring occasional internet connection hiccups, I've been able to complete the story and customize the default UI.

The expected word count will be less than 7,000 words, but will be balanced out by lots of event CGs.

Here are some screenshots of my WIP:

What am I up to as of this writing

I've been waiting for critiques to the story that will lead to revisions. In the meantime, I'm creating a pitch to better recruit an artist and composer for this VN. I'm also acquiring backgrounds to be used, in the form of photographs I have taken and will take myself (except for some royalty-free ones).

Update for the week of September 24, 2017

I've finally got the script critiqued and revised, and I also acquired the necessary photo backgrounds I will use. As for the music, I have approached two musicians, Alec Shea of Sonancy Designs and TyberAlyx, to have some of their music used for the game. And they did give me some select pieces.

For those who are curious about what the two main characters, Jacqueline and Rayzelle Anne, will look like, here's some concept art done by elliskim (timefiddler on Discord).

And here it is. The very first rough build of the game, which covers the first of the story's two acts. Note that the transitions are rough, and there are no sprites or event CGs yet (though I have a prospective artist on board now).

Update for the week of October 1, 2017

As expected, I've already coded the entire story. The only things missing are the character sprites, event CGs, the credits sequence, and a potential extras mode containing author's notes.

Basically, for the majority of the month of October, I will be doing sporadic updates until the prospective artist has already delivered the goods. And if ever something goes wrong, there's always compromising. The final product for this Jam won't be the final version, anyway.

Here it goes. The second build. https://www.dropbox.com/s/wd7iboyvjzqnuvp/SundayAtTheMemories-build0.2-all.zip?d...

Extra update

Thanks to a little character generator called Bebinator, I now have a concept of the full-body forms of Jacq and Rayz. The third pic is an unrelated one, specifically a rendition of Kotori Habane from If My Heart Had Wings (a VN I'm currently into).

Update for the week of October 26, 2017 (ESGS 2017 pre-flight)

Alright, I've got a demo version ready for a local gaming convention, the E-Sports and Gaming Summit.

To fellow Filipinos, you can visit my exhibit at the IGDA Manila booth on Friday (October 27).

Here's a preview of the exhibit display, which shows the finalized designs for the leads, Jacqueline (left) and Rayzelle Anne (right).

Update for October 28, 2017 (ESGS 2017 aftermath)

This was my third time at the E-Sports and Gaming Summit, and it was also the third time there as an exhibitor.

I volunteered to exhibit Sunday at the Memories at the IGDA Manila booth on day 1 only, as agreed upon (there were limited slots per day, so I jumped in early).

And despite having a spartan setup, I've had a good time exhibiting the VN (a specially-made demo version) to the public. Those who played it mostly commented how the backgrounds are processed from photos, which is true (most of the BGs are photos I've taken myself; others were taken from royalty-free photo depositories). One even pointed out my college alma mater as a setting for a certain scene!

As for ESGS 2017 itself? It's as awesome as ever. I've got tons of freebies from fellow Filipino game developers (indicated in the photo below), bought a USB charger for my still-broken Game Boy Advance SP, and realized how much I sucked at Dissidia Final Fantasy NT due to the number of years since I've last played the PSP Dissidia Final Fantasy games. Not to mention the free Mountain Dew being peddled to thirsty con-goers (and I took home some bottles).

Now to polish and finish the entire game before the November 1 deadline...

The game is now up! Do beware that many of the art assets are in an incomplete state, and one BGM which was supposed to be delivered didn't meet the deadline. Hence, an enhanced version with the currently-missing content will be in the horizon in the near future.
