Hi there, I'm the programmer so I might be able to help you. I'm guessing the problem occurs in battle?

There should be a button in the middle of the screen saying "Start Battle", which, when pressed, will have the enemies move around. Then when the button "End Turn" pops up, you should be able to left-click a pirate to select them and then command them around.

Outside of battle, you should only be capable of talking with pirates, with no enemies being present.

If this doesn't help with your problem, may I ask what operating system you're using, and maybe get a video/screenshot of the problem?

Thanks for replying, I loaded it up to give it another go and realised I was being stupid before! I didn't realise that you had to click on the attack type and then select the enemies, so I was just clicking on the enemies and nothing was happening lol. Once I figured that out I played through the game. I like the theme of pirate battles and I really enjoy turn based strategy games so it was nice to see an entry in that genre!

I came across something a bit strange in the last fight, one of the sharks kept gaining health faster than I could damage him. I eventually lost so re-attempted the battle and then the same thing was happening to my ranged attacker. I'm not sure if it's a bug with ranged units or not but I wanted to mention it so you're aware! (screenshot showing the shark with 45 health)

Good job with your submission, tactics/strategy games are difficult to tackle in such a short space of time and you guys did a good job! The art is nice, the music fit the setting, the AI worked and each character had some strategy to apply in how best to use them. I could definitely see me playing a version of this that was extended upon if you chose to do so after the jam. Nice work :)

Thanks for the wonderful feedback! The health thing was definitely a bug we missed in development. I have planned to fix that bug (and other parts of the code) and add some more levels after the jam, so you can look forward to that! :)

Also, do you think an interactive tutorial/pop-up tips in the first battle would have made your first experience better?

Hey, it's my pleasure! Really nice to see someone taking the feedback on board :)

Yeah that would be useful for sure. Turn based tactics/strategy games are my favourite genre but everyone has their own way of implementing the gameplay mechanics and controls, so even with prior knowledge of other games it can sometimes be a bit unclear when thrown straight into the game. Similarly just a quick note about what benefits I would gain from sending each person off to do a different role would be useful too. Would allow for a more informed decision on the part of the player as I wasn't too sure what effects some of those actions had.

I hope that helps and that you continue to get ratings and feedback from players, you definitely deserve more considering the effort involved in this project!
