I just discovered your game, Nice work. Really like the animated gif location graphics, and the art style in general. It's very charming.
Some comments, I think when going south at the beginning, and the bird appears, it would be good to clear the screen before printing the graphic of the bird. it would be a little bit more immersive.
Also if you could play a high tone beep or low tone beep to maybe scare the player, that would be cool, if you use sound, players can choose to disable it at the start of the game, but personally love games with a few well-chosen beeps.
