Really nice game. Love the concept, visuals and sprite characters.

Some feedback. It felt a little bit unbalanced. I ended up playing it 4 times.

  • The first three times i never managed to get an upgrade, although i felt i was doing a good job at being efficient.
  • I think it's confusing that when i click the VCR after a rewind, i have to go drop it in the shelves. But i could also have clicked a tape first, then clicked the VCR, so it'll rewind while i go place that one in the shelves. Then when you manage to upgrade to have 2 VCR's, i'll have to remember which ones i put it in last time.
  • Maybe increasing the reward to like 40$ would be better as the game progresses faster. Obtaining upgrades is a little easier that way. Then maybe make the first VCR 400$, second 500$, third one 600$. Just an idea.

I like how the third tape location on the far right is the annoying one. You can either run behind the counter or you can run around the customer line. Makes it tricky but these details add an extra dimension to the gameplay.

Anyways good job on the game and please try my game too and let me know what you think ^^ Thanks and keep on jammin!

Thanks for playing! post in my thread here and I will play your game, I am working through the thread in order :)

  • I would love if I could physically see people playing the game as my experience was the opposite,  I played three games in a row before my final submission to decide whether the difficulty was too high and I was able to unlock all the upgrades each time. It's hard for me to adjust the difficulty without seeing how people are engaging with the game as I think that's a good indicator of what needs to be changed.

  • This is working as intended from my design point of view, I wanted it to be like an advanced mechanic that you discover as you become more accustomed to the game. I did play around with people being able to carry more than 1 tape but the feel of the game was completely different and not the direction I wanted to take it. An indicator for which VCR has a rewound tape inside is definitely something I should have added.
  • I'll take this comment into account if I continue development as I will be making adjustments to the difficulty, I am just not sure what approach I will take yet.
